EE: Stan, do you feel sorry for him?
The character has obviously got an extremely secretive and dark past but do you feel sorry for him? Especially with that end scene....
Not sure what the audience are meant to be making of him but wondering what the general response currently is? |

Not at all. If I didn't think there was something darker about him to come, I probably would a little.

He was in the Vic for about an hour and he made those 'jokes'. I would imagine he's capable of a lot worse when he's in a bad mood, unlike his good mood today.

He was horrible to make that joke about Lee. But leaving him alone at night was a bit harsh. Mick could of left Stan at his flat.

No I'm not sorry for him. He brought it on himself. However, I do think Mick should have left him at his flat or returned him to hospital just out of decency.

I felt I little sorry when he was kicked out the car but you could tell that was coming at the dinner table when Mick went nice. Liked his bond with Nancy but those jokes were awful especially the one about 'Lee being the only normal one and he's gonna come home in a bodybag!' Linda must feel awful!

I still don't understand what he has done in the past that's been so bad? I'm looking forward to exploring the characters past more!

Why does Stan blame Shirley for Sylvie leaving? I thought that Sylvie was abusive to her. I think perhaps Stan emotionally abused them, Shirley did say he could make you hate yourself in tonights ep.

No, I didn't feel sorry for him at all. We don't know the whole story yet but Stan's comments were very distasteful and even mentally abusive. He was chipping and chipping away at Mick, I'm not surprised Mick kicked him out of the car. It does seem to me however, that Stan isn't aware he is doing it half the time- either that or he is that cruel that he is just seeing how far he can push it, and tonight, he pushed it too far.

No! 'And lee.. he'll probably come back in a body bag' absolutely disgusting. He didn't even apolgise to linda, infact he didn't even know what he said was offensive. He only apologised when hr realised mick was going to leave him at the side of the road. I would normally feel sorry if that happened but comments like that about soldiers are disrespectful.

Not that I especially like Linda but we've seen in previous episodes that Linda is very frightened for Lee (as any mother of a serving soldier would be) so for Stan to flippantly joke about her worst fear via the "bodybag" comment was absolutely disgusting. I did feel sorry for him in the last scene but only because I'm a softie not because he didn't deserve it.

No i don't
He is a nasty horrible man. Although i wouldn't have dumped him on the side of the road though. I have such a terrible guilty conscience, i would of at least took him home, told him a few home truths then gone off. |

You won't feel sorry for him when he drives off a flyover with Deano trapped in the boot.

Mick shouldn't have left him but we have no idea how bad he has been in the past. As a young man he could've been even worse.
People seem to think all old people are nice but some of them can be very cruel. |

No. not in the slightest. Though I do agree that he should have dropped him in the waiting are of the hospital.
My so called grandfather is just the same, he's a horrible spiteful bastard who I can't stand who has abused this family not just emotionally but physically and worse. Just because people are old and frail doesn't mean that their past discretions automatically get forgiven. |

I did slightly, but his comments yesterday were horrific and I could understand why Mick decided to dump him. Sadly his non-PC comments about 'wuftas' were very realistic; I'm still of the opinion that the non-homophobes are to some extent a minority, but maybe that's because of the opinions of those around me.
