EE What would make Roxy more likable for you?
Roxy has been nowhere near as popular since 2007-2008. She's fallen in to the background and is an irrelevant piece floating around. The writers don't care about her, they never let her open up or show any more emotion to make people warm to her. All her comic element is gone now, she's rarely fun or amusing anymore.
I really think they should make her open up more and show how there is emotion inside her. When she was with Alfie, they made the SL completely one sided to get us to disliek the relationship and root for Kat and Alfie. They never showed any likable scenes between Roxy and Alfie where we saw Roxy talk about why she likes Alfie and why he made her happy, talking about her past and stuff. We never hear her open up about how she feels about her dad, she keeps it bottled up and it can come across unlikable. They also should definitely bring back her comic element. I loved the fun, wild, trashy Roxy in 2007-2008. They also missed a big opportunity when she was landlady of the Vic, both times. Remember when she was a barmaid and her and Ronnie used to put on all those theme nights? Give her a SL to grit her teeth in to. There is still something unhealthy about her thoughts with Archie, and should defintiely be explored more! |

I think she should go. Rita Simons is not Sam Womack and there is little depth to Roxy.

I think she's fine and I totally understand her feelings towards Archie. He was still her dad and she will have conflicted feelings about him. And Stacy has to have at least one antagonist in the square, otherwise it just gets silly having everyone bowing at her feet.

Rita Simons is a very capable actress, she plays Roxy very well despite her little material. She's just never given any good material to act with, so it's obvious people would think she's below Sam. And she definitely DOES have depth to her. She has one of the most heartbreaking backstories of all the characters that can be explored so much, yet she has a comic, warm side to her as well. She's feisty, and the way she refuses to open up/speak about/think about the whole history with Archie is fascinating IMO. So much can be done with her, yet they decide to use Ronnie's potential to the fullest and not Roxy's even though they have similar backstories, both great characters and two very capable actresses. |

I've always been a Roxy fan so nothing needs to change for me character wise. She just needs to be given decent storylines,

I wish she would stop shouting. That apart she just needs a bit more development as a character. What does she actually do for a job these days?

But most people won't understand it. I mean if they spoke about it more on the show then people would understand and sympathize with Roxy, but they refuse to open her up. She's constantly bottled up with everything.

She has no one to speak to really as Ronnie always shuts her down. Ironically I think the best person she could talk to is Sharon who also had a lecherous dad who was bumped off in the Vic but I can't see the writers going there as characters are always in their own silos.

She could have opened p with Archie, or they could have a two-hander with Roxy/Stacey which I would find very interesting. I'm not saying we need Roxy/Stacey to be best friends, but an episode where they really spoke to each other and discussed things would be very interesting.

I have never required her to be consistently likable. she never has been - always has been a selfish, selfish little brat who also conversely happens to have a heart of gold in certain situations - basically she often is a teenager in adult form, with all the borderline sociopathic tendencies that that would entail.
She has never been a fave character of mine - not out of being unlikable, just never found her THAT interesting - I feel she works well as part of a relationship or unit, though, better than having stories on her own - I think others seem to bounce well off her. |

Rita is always very good when given the chance to shine.
![]() I think she would be better off distancing herself from the poisonous influence of all the 'Mitchell' bullshit. But I would like Roxy even more if she had to perform all of her storylines naked.

Inevitably with a two hander they would come to an understanding so I don't mind that they haven't gone down that route. It's realistic that she hates Stacey. I would prefer a two hander with Ronnie or Sharon.

I agree about the SL thing though, she needs to stop bouncing off other people's SL's. |

Roxy is a character that is neither dislikable or likable. She is one of those characters who you can leave or take.
She's not strong enough to be a leading lady but she is fine playing a supporting role. I'm not saying she can't handle a big storyline. I just don't think the character is interesting enough to have one. I don't mind Roxy myself but I have no interest in seeing her in a big storyline. Put it this way, I find her more likable than Ronnie. However I find Ronnie more interesting to watch, even if I think she is the more dislikable one. |

I like Kat but I never disliked Roxy because of her relationship with Alfie. Kat was in the wrong, no doubt about it. The problem with Roxy for me was Amy and her neglecting to tell Sean there was a chance that he wasn't the biological father. They were fairly casual at the time so he couldn't have said much. She didn't even want him at the time so why couldn't she just be honest - she didn't have to name Jack as the other potential father or anything. She also named Amy after Ronnie's daughter, while knowing that there was a chance that she had been fathered by the only man Ronnie had ever loved. Then when she knew that Jack was Amy's biological father, she tried to pretend otherwise.
She could start by being a decent mother over a period of time (thus far this has seemed to depend on her being with someone dependable, eg. Alfie.) |

That's what makes her so complex though IMO, and given her tragic past with Archie it's very understandable that she's like the way she is

Dont mind the character, the actress I find decent enough, but I think the producers keep her on the backburner/sidelines for a reason, because at the end of the day she is barely likeable enough to be endearing, and not really damaged or deep enough to be interesting and carry a story of any weight and consequence. However, you are obviously a big fan, so I hpe the producers give her something to do soon - its not nice as a fan to watch your fave/one of your faves whither away. |

Samantha Womack has had years of acting experience when being compared next to Rita Simons, so I don't really think it is fair to make that comparison. Although I do think Simons is a very underrated actress as she hardly gets any decent material at all.
