Waterloo Road axing is it right?
In my opinion it is one of the most show on bbc one and now they are putting new drama in the slot do they want to lose money.
I have seen show gone from strength to strength they had different teacher pupil they moved on from popular teacher I think it been great for the education for pupils in my opinion. So no I think it a big mistake. |

I think its the right decision, they ruined it when they moved it to Scotland, then further ruined it by killing off Tom Clarkson needlessly!.. Should have ended a few series ago in my honest opinion.

I guess Laurie Brett will commit to EastEnders full time after this show ends.

It's axed??
![]() That's a shame. I really enjoyed in when it was moved to Greenock for filming, purely because I enjoying location spotting as I know the area very well. I used to watch before too. Getting rid of Tom and Grantly was not a good move.

For me Waterloo Road ended on its last episode in Rochdale.
This Scotland series was just 'Greenock's Waterloo Road' which personally went stale as soon as Sian, Chalky etc left and were replaced by even worse characters (I'm looking at you Sue bloody Spark )

I think it's probably the right decision, though it had better get a proper ending rather than just...stopping.
I actually quite enjoyed Series 9 - the recent run of episodes since Christine Mulgrew took over as Head. There was a bumpy start in the move to Scotland, but I think it got it right in the end. In fact I think they should have gotten rid of Tom Clarkson (and possibly Grantly) sooner. He was a remnant of the past and got in the way of the show progressing...he hardly did anything after the move and prevented other characters from developing. Hopefully there's a big story planned for the end of the show - the viewers and the show deserve it.

If they feel they have come to the end of the line then yes, it's right

Yes . Waterloo road is now pulling in around 3million viewers which is pretty poor at 8pm on BBC1. Its had a great run and i used to enjoy the show but the cast dont stick around long. There is no original characters and the move done it no favours.
I expect money will go go a new drama. |

Ridiculous storylines in the end set in Scotland where originally it was in Rochdale!
Just like Grange Hill moved from London to Liverpool it just doesn't cut mustard with the viewers! |

Just like Grange Hill moved from London to Liverpool it just doesn't cut mustard with the viewers! when it is written into the story and half the cast change is pathetic. Casualty moved from Bristol to Cardiff but thats not written into the storyline so its still set in 'Holby' and pulling in over 5million on Saturday evenings after 9pm |

I don't think it was just the move that killed it. The show became seriously repetitive.
On the plus side. At least Laurie Brett will be back at EE full time

I do believe it was the right decision and as much I love Shed productions they have a habit of killing their drama's rather than ending them on a high.
The location change killed Waterloo Road, the series should have ended rather than the move to Scotland, the lack of original characters also killed it. The kids wore the same uniforms but they didn't attend the same school. They done this with Bad Girls, rather than end on series 7 they attempted to go for an extra series where series 8 started with no follow from series 7, no explanation to what happened with Di Fenner, Grayling had a few lines and died, Julie J we just had to forget she killed Fenner as they never followed her confession through. Footballers wives, the first 3 series were fantastic then the change over of casts, new club chairman etc destroyed it. Shed create some amazing drama's but don't seem to know how to introduce a change of story line correctly, in my opinion Bad Girls was their best production, had they followed series 8 from Series 7 it would have ran a lot longer, series 8 became a prison drama all of it's own. Rock Rivals was also very good but where was series 2? |

It probably would've ended at some point in the near future regardless of the move to Scotland. That just accelerated it and was really a ludicrous decision.
It was a great show in it's heyday which for me was everything up to the end of the series with Earl Kelly. Can't believe that was bloody 2009! |

Awful TV show. Grange Hill was a million times better.
Least the kids in that were kids, and not in their 20s and 30s like they are in WR.

The person who decided to relocate is solely responsible for this. It was a great show up untill then and it was only a matter of time before this happened. I said my goodbyes to waterloo road ages ago so I can't say really bothered about the news

I think it was the right time. I thought it was slowly improving but it isn't what it used to be. Most of the characters are unlikeable or very bland the sls are repeating and everything feels quite forced.

Have to say im suprised by the news, however Waterloo Road has gone downhill since it moved from Rochdale. In my opinion they should of ended the show when the school in Rochdale closed. It would certainly have been a better ending than it will probably get now. For me personally i have never taken to the new school, it just looked and felt a bit posh which is something Waterloo Road was never meant to be. The old school in Rochdale also had a certain charm to it, something Alec Newman alluded to in an interview at the time of the move.
Everything comes to an end eventually and Waterloo Road has had a good run but for me the real Waterloo road ended when the school in Rochdale closed. |

It is nothing compared to what it used to be. They shouldn't have killed off the two remaining S1 characters, and it was so unrealistic when they moved to Scotland.

Yes, I think so.
It really ought to have ended with the move to Scotland. The whole move idea was ridiculous; an independent public school in Scotland that takes in everyone, charges no fees and teaches English qualifications, oh yeah, and has a boarding house. What? Besides all that it became extra specially cheesy when it moved up here. Put simply, they'd run out of stories to tell. Laurie Brett's character has been the only real stand out star. |

I don't watch it but I think too many dramas are being axed to make way for new ones - especially when they haven't been given a proper ending.
They want to please their loyal viewers by introducing high quality dramas but in doing so stops all the dramas that they are currently watching. The truth is that the writers are bored now and want to do something new. |

I think the people who run it could have transferred it to a different channel just like neighbours and home and away on channel 5, bbc have in my eyes made a huge mistake by getting rid of it. We'll just have to wait and see what ramifications it has for them (bbc).
