I think this year, more than any other year, is a bit of a free for all when it comes to the British Soap Awards, and I think all of the soaps will have a fairly even amount of award wins.

Emmerdale had an outstanding 2013, EastEnders had a terrible 2013. The general consensus is that both soaps are heading in different directions in 2014. Corrie-mania hit fever pitch in January, having won the ratings for well over a year and have won several awards already this year. But they aren't necessarily in the strong position now that they were in January.

And obviously there is always the outside chance of Doctors and especially Hollyoaks.

So what do think, who will get Best Soap?

My favourite is Emmerdale but I think Eastenders will win now that DTC has taken over.

I've voted Corrie, as it's the only one I watch, but I think EE will win it.

I don't think any of the soaps will dominate the awards as they have all had inconsistent patches, I voted EE and hopefully it can claim back its crown.

I voted for Corrie but I would LOVE Emmerdale to win it.

I voted EE because it's always them or Corrie. I'd like it to be one of the others for a change. It would quite nice to see Emmerdale get it.

Soap awards are just so predictable.

I'm hoping for EastEnders, it's true that the vast majority of 2013 was terrible but I think they deserve it for the turnaround and as a much needed boost for all the recent hard work. Unfortunately I still think Corrie will get it, ratings haven't exactly plummeted despite how atrocious it's been for about 6 months now and it still has a very loyal fan base who seem ready to vote for it.

Emmerdale doesn't have a chance.

I'd like EastEnders to win and I don't think it is impossible, but I think Corrie still have the upper hand.

I would like Hollyoaks to win, but the 'best soap' category is always between Corrie and EE, out of those two I would prefer EE to win but I'm not sure if that's going to happen.

EastEnders has to win, Corrie is awful at the moment.

I think Coronation Street winning would cause a meltdown on this forum. It does seem likely.

I would like Emmerdale to win but I won't mind if EastEnders does as it's really upped it's game. I would be annoyed if Corrie wins as it has been terrible for months now.

I would like HO to win but could easily see EE win.

I know that it is between Eastenders and Coronation Street, as always.

I think EastEnders will get it. 2013 was shit with a few exceptions, but things started to turn around after Michael's death and especially since Dom took over.

I think that it should be Emmerdale's year but that could be said for previous years too...

In reality, I think it will be a penalty shootout between Coronation street and Eastenders as (usual) with Corrie winning the title this year.
