An hour of BBC One is soon to be free when Waterloo Road closes it's doors, so what could replace that drama slot?
I would like the BBC to re-comission Eldorado, but instead of 3x a week soap, just an hour of continuing drama, Wednesdays 8-9pm.
The existing set is still there & in decent condition, a completely new bunch of actors can be cast with maybe a couple of the old school still around.
The villa's could now be a small holiday park (like it actually is for real now) run by regular characters, with guest characters coming in & out for a few weeks/episodes & re-occuring etc.
The town would hold the core characters, who'd have their own storylines & partly interact with guests from the villa's over the course of time.
The sets would include:
Joy's Bar - now run by new characters & attached to Villas as it's club bar/entertainment zone.
Beach Hut Bar - run by younger cast
Supermarket/Shop
Cafe Snack bar
Doctors
Holiday Park Villa's & Offices
The Church on the existing set could now be a nightclub
Horse Stables (as before)
It could work!
