Has anyone else started to have problems with Netflix lately?

I'm using Apple TV & I'm finding that Netflix keeps displaying error messages saying that content could not be played, or that my Apple TV is not connected to the internet, or it just stops mid play & goes back to the screen where I choose the netflix app.

Most of the time it's just annoying as it remembers where I am up to when I go straight back into what i was watching. Sometimes however, its completely lost where I was & starts again at the beginning.

I know my Apple TV is connected to the internet even when Netflix tells me it's not as nothing else that uses the wifi loses it at that time & I'm able to just go back a screen on Netflix & then forward again & it works fine again.

It's only been doing this the last few weeks & a friend of mine has been having the same issues for the same length of time...any ideas guys?

I have noticed it on and off through the Wii in my bedroom but on the PS4 in the room it has been fine.

Some times you may find you need to update Un Block Us if your IP has changed, or sometimes Apple TV just needs a re-boot.

Thanks Philip

My ip changes frequently & I need to update Unblock US.

I was given some good advice via pm & fingers crossed, since I did what was suggested everything seems stable again.

It got to the point where it was crashing out at least 2-3 times every 2 hour period which was incredibly irritating

Gah! I may have spoken too soon, I was in the middle of watching an episode of Hart of Dixie & I got booted right out of Netflix again back to the app screen. When I went back in to Netflix again it had lost where I was up to.

Maybe it's just my choice of programme that's being objected to

Unfortunately it's wifi as BT 'conveniently' placed my BT Infinity in the hallway by my front door.

Going wired isn't an option unless I have about 40ft+ of ethernet cable snaked round my walls & doorframes

I assume it's just a wifi issue then if nobody else is having it. I had ruled that out on the basis that when it tells me my Apple TV isn't connected to the internet, my wifi on my iPhone & iPads doesn't drop.

I'll live with it, it's more of an annoyance than a full blown issue & life is too short to worry about trivia

First world problems huh?

You could try a wi-fi extender, you can get them for around £10-£20. I've got one that's about the size of a double plug adapter, and increases the range of my wifi into spots in the house where I had trouble before.

That's the thing though, I'm not having trouble with anything else. The skybox is wireless too & that never goes off like the Apple TV

Nor do my iPhone or iPads.
It must be an Apple TV issue

Mine works fine with my homehub. It will either be down to how you've set it up on the ATV or a technical fault with your ATV. It won't be a general issue as it would affect many more people.

I think it was an issue that affected more than just me. It affected my friend on ATV as well & I believe from correspondence with Unblock US Support that they had had other people tell them about the same issue.

I agree it must have been an ATV issue though as it seems to have sorted itself out now thankfully

I guess there may have been a bug with an ATV update that they got sorted out, thankfully! It was really driving me nuts as it got so bad it was booting me out of Netflix a couple of times every hour

Edited to add: Many thanks for all the help, both on thread & off thread on this one
