Big Brother Holland Axed? Plus a few questions

As you probably know Big Brother began in the Netherlands in 1999 with 10 people living in a house for up to 100 days to win 250,000 Gilder.

So is Big Brother still running in Holland?

By series 3 the format developed into Big Brother: The Battle. This is where the idea of dividing the house into rich and poor first cropped up - but another difference was that only 6 HMs entered originally, with 2 more entering each week for the next 6 weeks. Has anyone got anymore info on this?

The last dutch Big Brother I heard of was a fourth series with a "Bungalow" and a "Bunker" - what I imagine to be a development of the divide in the third series. Again any info is welcolme?

This is the last time I heard anything about the Dutch version - has Big Brother been axed in it's native country?

I just talked to a friend from Holland, and no, Big Brother is finished for good over there. There's going to be no more series.
Apparently the new big reality TV show is something called "recognise the fag" (yes, that's the literal translation) - a woman lives with 12 guys, 7 gay, 5 straight.. She eliminates 2 each week, and in the end chooses a winner. If he's straight, they both win half a million euros.. If he's gay, he gets the whole million euros...

So, there you go

I don't mean to be a smart ass but it was actually 9 housemates and 3 replacements later on in the series

Absolutely no objections to a correction - have you any more info?

Sounds like C4's new show beginning later this year - although with the better title "Playing it Straight". It was axed in the US though after just a single episode!

Well, apparently it's very popular in Holland; can't be bad Although it sounds like something Sky One or five would make.. (not that I didn't appreciate Temptation Island UK, or Jailbreak of course!), but I think it might be alright.
I can imagine that it wouldn't have worked well with American audiences; they're not hugely into reality TV most of the time (unless it's something like Survivor, The Apprentice or American Idol), and gay people on TV don't usually work well with viewers in the US.
