Even though he was crushed, will they be able to tell he was in the car?

When you say "they", who do you mean..? Just like cars themselves don't disintegrate into nothing after being crushed, Carl's body hasn't disappeared..! Very morbid thoughts (just as this is a very morbid thread), but there would be blood, bones/remains and so on.

But in terms of my question above, who do you imagine would be checking crushed cars for Carl's body anyway..?

they will be able to tell. He had clothes on, perhaps id and realistically he should have been found already

Once crushed it could be on the pile for months before it's melted down but unless some one actually smells it, it will never be found unless they some how get the brilliant idea to send a sniffer dog.

Only Dr. Brennan could solve this now.

Sure. But his poor body will look like dry paint with scraggly bones .

Just the way his mum didn't call the police when Ronnie said he had died. The story was left in limbo

If they knew the body in the woods in ED was Alex, why not?

In the alternative reality zone in which EastEnders appears to be set, yes.

Given that Phil survived being thrown through a car windscreen and made a full recovery within a couple of weeks, it is perfectly possible that Carl climbed out of the crusher complaining of a slight headache but nothing more.

I got the impression that the car crush site were happy enough to look the other way and not ask questions when people bring their cars to them. If that's the case then they probably wouldn't report it if they noticed something suspicious (and they've had plenty of time by now.)
