Despite films being shown as available in surround sound this feature does not work.
At first I thought it was a problem with my Samsung TV. However, Amazon support have admitted that even they have been unable to get films shown as 5.1 to play in anything other then the old 2 channel format.

Not sure how they think they can rival Netflix when they can't even make things advertised work properly!
Frustratingly the US equivalent service no doubt delivers this faciltiy.

Yes it is very disapointing. I too have a Samsung TV and seeing 5.1 against some titles made me think at last they have Dolby Digital 5.1. Sadly though all titles are streaming inDolby Digital 2.0. Does 5.1 work on any device?

I've recently watched a couple of movies listed as having 5.1 audio through my Sony Bluray player and annoyingly it still only plays as 2.0
No problems with Netflix - glorious 5.1 audio where advertised. Needless to say, any movie available on both services then Netflix gets my viewing

DD5.1 works loud and clear on Amazon PS3 app...........however titles not in 5.1 are still sent to my AV receiver in 5.1 even though in DD2.0 ...I have to adjust input accordingly....

Amazon app on my 2010 Bravia only streams at DD2.0 and no HD

.....Netflix PS3 app manages to do this automatically
