BT Humax unreliability
Don't know if anyones experiencing the same as me, but over the last week theres a hardly any catchup channels showing up on the EPG, also i'm getting loads of failed recordings. I honestly thought infinity would sort all my problems with the Humax, but its getting worse by the day. The box is also losing its internet connection 2 or 3 times a week - Just wondered if anyone else been experiencing the same?

If you don't mind losing all your recordings, you could always try resetting the box. Software might be corrupted. If it is, that should sort it out. If it doesn't, it sounds like you have a faulty box and should get a replacement from BT.

Tnx Dave, I've just carried out a router & youview box reset & still have the problems. I'm resale disappointed in this box, I've had many Humax PVR's in the past, but nothing as unreliable as this. I will be asking for a replacement this week - i'll update as & when i get the replacement>>

Dave - exactly right, the box was checked by the BT engineer, it was indeed faulty. Pretty good service, they came out the following day & replaced the box with one of the new smaller Humax boxes. First thoughts are it seems a lot quicker to boot up - the remote is also a lot more robust, however it hasn't got the added functionality of the old one, in that it won't control the TV in addition to the PVR. However alls not lost, the engineer left me with the old remote that still works with the new box.
Advice to anyone with the old Humax box, if it starts slowing down, the remote becomes unresponsive, you find that the internet connection is dropping off periodically, don't mess around insist on a new box ps hope its not a fault, but has anyone noticed that a pre programmed record event will not record, while your watching an internet channel - any info appreciated>> Bartdog>> |
