Long (ish) running artists that would still have Top 10 singles today
RandomPeter94

Well quite a fair amount of artists that were popular a few years can't seem to get Top 10 hits nowadays. This seems to be due to so much new artists (A LOT of DJs and clubbing songs, which I like anyway) filling up a a lot of the Top 10 charts. There aren't that much artists that have been around for at least a few that are still in the Top 10 in charts today. At the moment we have Beyoncé, Rihanna, Katy Perry, Lily Allen, Enrique Iglesias, Will.I.am, Miley Cyrus, Flo Rida, few boy/girl groups etc and Shakira with one song.

Which other more long running artists who have been away for a few years or so would still work today? I reckon Black Eyed Peas would.

Yeah I agree with Black Eyed Peas, especially because Wil.i.am is present on the music scene right now.

Mariah Carey could of made #Beautiful a hit too in the UK. The song was released on iTunes and got into the 20's, was play listed by Radio 1 AND Capital FM but she never came here and promoted it. I remember someone saying last year on here that she could of done a performance on The Voice, as at that time of the live shows it was in the 20's and getting decent radio play. I think if she would have promoted that song properly she could of had at least a top 5 hit.

Justin Timberlake, still popular
Britney Spears, with right track
Kylie Minogue, with right sound (Sexercize would of been top 5 if was first single release)
Robbie Williams, had no1 in 2012
Christina Agurilla, right track
Jennifer Lopez, had no1 in 2011
Eminem, still popular
Jay Z, still popular
Beyonce, still popular
Pink, still popular

Ah I forgot about Justin Timberlake, J-Lo, Jay Z, Eminem and Pink. Dizzee Rascal had two Top 10 hits last year I just noticed.

Chirstina Aguilera doesn't seem to do well with her own songs, just songs that she is featured in. Say Something isn't her song, it could have been huge as her own song though with good promotion. Robbie Williams seems to be slipping at the moment looking at his discography.

Britney had a top 10 hit last year with Work Bitch. Just shows the song had potential had it been promoted properly i.e. if she performed it on X Factor that weekend she was in London.

It got to number 7 in the charts but didn't stay in the Top 40 for very long. Didn't know it wasn't so well promoted.

Anastacia's new song could have done quite well with good promotion.

She took the Madonna 'MDNA' style approach when she promoted her album. Shunned live performances and gave very little interviews about the album. Everything was about Vegas hence why the song didn't do as well her previous lead singles. She didn't perform it live until the very first Vegas show.

So she basically did the exact opposite of what the song says to do..WORK BITCH.

Having a top 10 chart hit isn't the be all and end all.

Led Zeppelin, one of the biggest bands of all time, never released a single in the UK.

Oh just wondering, how well was Your Body by Christina Aguilera advertised in 2012? Her Lotus album wasn't successful, how well was that also advertised?

Your Body was No.16 in the charts. If the advertising was bad for it, I reckon it could of been a hit, I think it's a killer (fab) track!

Kelly Clarkson. Admittedly, the singles off the greatest hits didn't chart too well due to a lack of promotion over here (Catch My Breath did the best and went to number fifty-one) but Mr Know It All (released 2011) and Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You) (released 2012) went to number four and number eight respectively.

McFly - their last two singles charted in the top ten. Love Is Easy (released 2012) went to number ten, and Love Is On The Radio (released 2013) went to number six. In fact, overall, only three of their twenty-two singles didn't chart in the top ten.

I thought she didn't perform it live because she wasn't allowed to perform anywhere but Vegas?

Could of been a hit with good advertising I mean.
