Home made Videos on DVD player
Hello all,
I recently bought some music singles and they have the music videos on them, but the annoying thing is that they are in a fomat that dvd players cannot read(what does it take to maby use a format that does work!!). So I converted them from quiktime format (.mov) to Mpeg fomat (.mpg) assuming they would play on my player, Toshiba SD210-E which plays 'vcd' and 'compact disc digital video' (home made vcd's). But after getting home they did not play, AAAARGGGHH!! So can someone please update me on what to do, like wether to use .dat file format instead of mpeg. BECAUSE I DONT KNOW!! Thankyou all, Matthew (DNZ711) |

Did you just burn them as MPEG's or did you create a Video CD?

Won't they come out as very small sized clips like they are when you play them on the PC?

When put onto VCD the tv actually stretches them out to full size, and they actually look 'not bad' quality, unlike if you make them full screen on the pc where you can see noticable pixilation.

When I burn a vcd it creates 5 folders on the disc, CDI, EXT, MPEGAV, SEGMENT and VCD. Just burning the mpeg file as is won't allow you to play it on a dvd player, it must be done through proper s/ware like has been said by oldmandeets.

Ahh, well I did burn a video clip via NERO to SVCD onto cdrw, and the machine noticed that it was a vcd and played it. Only to find the picture VERY distorted and no sound. I think this is actually because as i chose the file to burn Nero warned me that it MAY not be compatible with dvd players, but i burned it anyway. The file i used was a '.mpg' file.

Also instead of the 'mpegav' folder it created an 'mpeg2' folder. There was a check box to heve either but i chose the mpeg2 folder.
