Hey

Is there/will Amazon launch an app that will allow a video to be cast via Chromecast?

Thanks

I doubt it. There isn't even an amazon instant app for android. I didn't think amazon have any intention of making that service compatible with android based devices.

amazon have a rival device to Chromecast now, so I think its a big fat no for the forseeable future.

I wont be keeping Amazon Prime after my 30 day trial

No app for Android
I searched 3 movies, all of which are available for rent or purchase only.

People who do or have worked in Amazons software development have stated work has been done on Android versions but its just not considered a high priority due to the fractured android marketplace which means it isn't deemed to to have the potential userbase to justify the time and resources required for a significant roll out on a reasonable number of android devices.

Google though needs to do something to try and reduce the fractured nature of the android market. There's just way too many hardware configs, screen sizes/dimensions/resolutions, Android Versions and custom system software out there

Doubt it as Googles whole business is based around the ad business. Everything else they do is a loss leader designed soley to show you more ads and to collect more data on you. As Hulu+ has shown paying for a streaming service while being served ads really doesn't work and they can collect data about you just as well by selling digital downloads as they can by offering a streaming service, Infact maybe better because after all ads are used to sell you something and what movies you purchase is a better metric than what you stream just because its free.

Only way I could see it would be if they believed they had a new way to show ads during videos so decided to do a free ad supported streaming service.

But if they could do that they would most likely just look to add more legitimate uploads of commercial content that was free to stream to youtube

Oh I don't know. They already offer Google Movies & TV, which although it's pay per view isn't a million miles away from offering a subscription service.
