The 2015 World Rowing Junior Championships will take place between 5 & 9 August inclusive. It will be subject to more international attention than most of its kind since it is a Rio 2016 test event, not to mention the efforts made in trying to cleaning up the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon.

The big event of this weekend is on Sunday, the official Rio Triathlon test event, which many federations are using as a selection race. All Britain's top stars will be there. Absolutely no TV coverage at all anywhere, seemingly.

It's the Archery World Championships in Copenhagen this week, with crucial Olympic quota spots up for grabs. The scoring on the website is a bit hard to follow but as far as I can see, it has been a bit of a disaster for Team GB with no team or individual qualifications at all attained. Finals day is on Sunday from 11.00

Not quite all - Alistair Brownlee will be there, Jonathan still has his stress fracture.

I see Anna Watkins has come out of retirement & training with a view to Rio. I wonder if we will see the dream partnership with Grainger reunited?

Britain's shooters continue to earn Olympic places - Steve Scott took a silver in the Double Trap in the World Cup at Gabala, Azerbaijan, and becomes the 5th British shot to qualify for Rio.

Hadn't really known this was on, but there's a European Championship in Boxing going on at the moment. 6 British fighters have secured semi-final spots, thus guaranteeing qualification to the World Championships in Doha in October, which is itself the main route to qualifying for Rio.

Canoe slalom World Cup Finals from Pau, France. Final competition for the overall World Cup, which has not really been a good guide to form this year, lots of teams missing a few of the events. Live on Eurosport 11:30 Saturday and 11:00 Sunday

Swimming World Cup from France. Seems a bit odd having this so soon after the World Champs, but the finals are streaming live on FINA TV on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. It is being held in the strange location of Paris-Chartres, which is a bit like saying London-Colchester. Can't find much information about it, so I don't know how many Brits are involved. The overall World Cup event goes on through the next few months.

http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/fina/swimming/index.html

European Equestrian Championships from Aachen, Germany. Goes on all next week. Coverage on Eurosport and BBC2. Britain won a team dressage silver yesterday - solo dressage is on Sunday, with Caroline Dujardin the big favourite for gold.

Badminton World Championships from Indonesia. Live streaming on YouTube

Some good results at the weekends. Final haul for Team GB in the European Championship boxing was 1 gold 4 silver 1 bronze - our best ever medals total at the these championships.

http://www.teamgb.com/news/mccracken...-european-haul

And 2 golds for Charlotte Dujardin and her horse Valegro at the European Dressage Championships - a very gold omen for Rio, because pretty much all the top contenders are European.

Haven't the foggiest why the afternoon games can't be shown live on BBC2 in HD. However if the finals involve a home country then they will be on 2.

What, and cancel antiques and cooking show repeats? The very idea!

Live events will be finishing around 3-4pm our time, so there's plenty of time after that to show the early evening games?

Ireland games are being shown on the red button (Ireland is the all-Ireland team which obviously includes Norn)
When I find out exactly which website is showing all the games I will, of course, post here. Probably starsports.com

Getting near to the climax of the summer season, so lots of big events this weekend, even without the athletics, cycling & hockey already being covered.

Flatwater Canoe World Championships from Milan. All the finals live on British Eurosport

15:00 Friday
09:30 Saturday
09:00 Sunday

Brits have been a bit below top form all season, but there should be a few medal chances. Results so far here. We have already picked up medals and quota places in the Paralympic events.

European Equestrian Champs in Aachen continue with the Show Jumping phase.
BBC Coverage here
Team showjumping on Saturday, Individual on Sunday.

Modern Pentathlon European Championships from Bath
Another sport where Team GB have been below their best this year, but things should go a bit better on home soil. Early Olympic qualifying places at stake. TV and online coverage has been hopeless all season, but there are extended highlights on BBC Red button this weekend.

20:05 Saturday Men's Race
22:!5 Sunday Women's Race

Triathlon World Series from Stockholm. Looks like most of the British big names are sitting this round out though

11:20 Saturday Women's Race - BBC Red Button & BT Sport
14:30 Saturday Men's Race - BBC Streaming only

Highlights on BBC2 Sunday.

The big event of this week is the Rowing World Championships already underway at Aiguebelette, France. Results so far here. Qualifying is heats or repechages to semis and then to A or B finals.

http://www.worldrowing.com/events/20...championships/

British team news from yesterday - 5 heat wins so far.

http://www.britishrowing.org/news/20...ng-team-worlds

Live TV coverage is on BBC at the weekend - no doubt plenty of blethering and no coverage whatever of any races not involving Brits. No Red Button option. Eurosport will have the semi-finals live on Thursday and Friday, but will be showing tennis repeats and motor cycling at the weekend instead.,

Streaming option will be on Eurovision Sports from Wednesday

Just a bump for this - World Rowing semis today and tomorrow on Eurosport. Any boat that gets out of the semis into the A finals automatically qualifies for Rio.

That doesn't apply to the eights - sixth (last) place in those particular A finals won't qualify either.
