Well GB have now officially qualified a women's Gymnastics team for Rio. They are currently in 3rd place in the Team standings with only 4 more teams to compete. Qualifiers for individual finals to be confirmed after the final 2 sessions this evening

Olympic Qualifying places for the British Canoe Slalom team are being settled this weekend - we have one quota place in each event, so this is about getting individuals into these places. David Florence gets the men's Canoe slot, and Florence and Richard Hounslow get the pairs spot. More tomorrow.

Anyone who watched Delhi 2010 may remember Reiss Beckford, who won 3 silver medals for England.
The strength of the British squad is such that he now represents Jamaica, obviously with Rio in mind. He won't earn an Olympic berth this weekend, but hopefully he'll do well enough to earn a spot in next year's test event and qualify for Rio there. ----- Women's qualification is now done and dusted - here are some useful links: All live results All documented start lists / results / etc in detail Team qualification results The 8 finalists (who can also send full teams to Rio) qualified as follows: USA 236.611 RUS 231.437 GBR 227.162 CHN 225.127 ITA 224.452 JPN 223.863 CAN 222.780 NED 222.354 Third place for the Brits is a great result, but the Chinese were off the boil; ergo a bronze medal in Tuesday's final would be an impressive result. Agonisingly for Brazil, they finished in 9th place (221.861), which means they'll have to be top 4 in the test event if they want a full team; same goes for Romania, who were 13th (217.220). |

Two Brits made the top 10, and Ellie is also ranked high enough (20th if you ignore the 2 per country limit) to qualify should either Tinkler or Harrold not enter the final for any reason. |

Just like last year, Simone Biles is also looking to stamp her authority on the separate pieces of apparatus; she tops the standings in all but uneven bars and is the defending champion on beam and floor (plus vault silver). You wouldn't bet against a similar result next weekend. Oh, and she's just shy of 16 points on floor. Crikey. It's a shame that Becky didn't qualify on uneven bars as she was arguably the most likely of the British women to win a medal. That said, we have Ellie on vault & floor, Harrold on uneven bars and Fragapane on floor (if someone medals, it'll be her), which isn't bad at all. |

British Men have completed their qualifying. They were in the 1st group so a long wait until tomorrow night to find out the final qualifying results.
A few errors & falls so far from an ideal qualifying. However they should still have done enough to qualify for team final and therefore Rio. Dan Purvis & Max Whitlock will almost certainly have done enough for All Around final. Dan has the top score and Max & Nile Wilson were tied with exact same score in 2nd but tie-break in this is to drop the lowest Apparatus score and after this Max came out on top as he was able to drop his High Bar score where he fell. As for individual Apparatus finals I think Louis Smith has certainly made it on Pommel and Nile Wilson also has a great chance in High Bar & P Bars. Max on Pommel & Floor will probably be a close shave either way - as I said a long wait for the final results. |

Well with just 1 final qualifying group to go it's now been confirmed that Team GB have qualified for Rio and of course also the final here.
As well as Dan & Max in the All Around looks like we'll probably have Louis in Pommel along with Max who should make floor final too. Dan is also currently in final qualifying position on Floor & Nile is in the same position on Rings. A couple of shocks though - Berki is out of Pommel final as in Epke Zonderland. Gutted about Epke as had been really looking forward to seeing him 'in the flesh'. Arrived in Glasgow earlier & looking forward to attending all the finals sessions now. |

Men's qualification is now done and dusted.
Team qualification results The 8 finalists (who can also send full teams to Rio) qualified as follows: JPN 358.884 CHN 357.027 GBR 354.417 RUS 352.692 USA 350.332 SUI 350.127 BRA 349.057 KOR 346.166 Can the Japanese finally beat their neighbours to the title, after having missed out by a tenth last year? A bronze medal for the Brits is a fair possibility - they managed it at London 2012, after all. Seventh place is great news for the 2016 hosts; not so for Ukraine, who will need to be top 4 in the test event as they were only 12th in Glasgow (341.817). |

Individual all-around qualifying round results

Interestingly, only he and (arguably his fiercest challenger) Oleg Verniaiev broke 90 (or 89 for that matter), with Purvis leading the rest of the pack just shy of 89 points. Whitlock and Wilson also made top 10 with identical scores, and the former qualifies because his top-5 score (in his case, the total minus horizontal bar) is superior. |

Standout performers were Shirai Kenzo and Oleg Verniaiev, the only two above 16 points in qualifying and hot favourites to win the floor and parallel bars titles respectively. To confirm Tiger Rose's observations (mostly), we have Whitlock on pommel horse and floor, Smith on pommel horse, Purvis on floor and Wilson on parallel bars. Wilson did very well to make his final, considering the cutoff was 15.5 (!); Whitlock / Purvis have an outside shot of a medal on floor; Smith / Whitlock could be top two on pommel horse since Berki didn't qualify, but Verniaiev will have other ideas. ----- Women's team final starts this evening, which means live coverage on the BBC will finally get underway. |

In case you didn't already know, certain tournaments besides the Olympics are permitted to fly the Olympic flag - this WCh is one of them. You'll find one during a beam routine.

Women's team final results USA 181.338 CHN 176.164 GBR 172.380 RUS 171.964 JPN 169.887 CAN 167.697 ITA 167.597 NED 162.730 The Americans dominated the competition and won their fourth global title in succession, thanks in no small part to Biles' all-around form and their ability to avoid major mistakes. The Chinese (by and large) put their mistakes in qualifying to bed and finished as runners-up by a comfortable margin. Quote:
Gosh how weird is it not to have Romania in the World Team final?.
![]() If you stayed around for the medal ceremony, you'll have noticed the ceremony music is the very same composed for Glasgow 2014. Speaking of the Commonwealth Games, here are last year's results - England's winning score of 167.555 (in the very same arena) would have been worth just seventh place today. |

GB .2 behind Russia in 4th with 2 rotations to go.
Pretty solid performance generally. Japan and USA in a close battle for gold. |
