Hockey
Do you want to see the next Kate Richardson-Walsh, the next Lily Owsley, the next Maddie Hinch, the next Webb or Danson?
Maybe you would prefer to see the next Barry Middleton or the next Harry Martin. Either way, the good news is that you can. The domestic hockey season begins on the 17th of September. Click here for club fixtures. |

Canoe slalom
There's another two events to go in the World Cup season, the Prague World Cup starting 2 September and the World Cup Final from Slovenia, starting 7 September. Eurosport usually have live coverage of the key races, and there's a YouTube channel as well. The BBC also cover World Cup races in Britain. https://www.youtube.com/user/CanoeKayakTV/videos Canoe Sprint Canoe sprint seems to be over for the year, but when it's on Eurosport coret it. And on the same YouTube channel as slalom https://www.youtube.com/user/CanoeKayakTV/videos Cycling - BMX There's one final World Cup event for the season, from Sarasota, Florida, 8 October. Coverage is usually streamed on the UCI's YouTube Channel; https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...cgl7QSsgLaEuuX Cycling - Mountain Bike Final World Cup event from Valnord, Andorra, starting on 3 September. Also on the UCI YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...7CrCAl5MIKtYBW |

Cycling - Road
Tons of stuff going on, but the main ones to look out for are the Tour of Spain at the moment on Eurosport & ITV4, the Tour of Britain starts on 4 September and will also be on ITV4, and the World Championships from Qatar starting on 9 October which will be on the BBC. The British domestic season is just about over, though. Cycling - Track Track cycling is mainly a winter sport, The mainly domestic Revolution Series begins at Manchester on 17 September. This was on Eurosport last year, don't know about this. The first big event of the Winter will be the European Championships from Paris on 19-23 October. And the first World-level event will be the Track Cycling World Cup from Glasgow on 4 November, which will probably be on the BBC and Eurosport |

If you like volleyball, Here is the place to go for volleyball fixtures. Helpfully, it includes details of venues where fixtures are taking place. The season starts on the 10th of September.
The British Water Polo League season begins with an event in Sheffield on the 17th and 18th of September which features 32 teams from two women's divisions and three men's divisions. |

Diving
The main elite event of the year, the Diving World Series is over. There are still three Diving Grand Prix events, though, starting in Kuching, Malaysia on 21 October. The main World Series events are always live on the FINA website. https://www.youtube.com/user/FINA1908/videos Equestrian Eventing seems to over the year. The Dressage World Cup run from the Summer to the Spring, there are plenty events over Europe still to come. It runs on a regional basis, with an international final https://data.fei.org/Calendar/Search...eName=Dressage Jumping also has a very busy calendar, and runs on a regional basis. https://inside.fei.org/fei/events/world-cups/jumping Tons of TV coverage on Eurosport, Sky and the BBC. Fencing Another sport with a hugely busy and complex calendar, because separate World Cup events are held by the different blades, so there can be three going on at a time. http://fie.org/competitions/calendar Eurosport does a lot of coverage, Also has its own YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/FIEvideo/videos Football & Golf Can't find any information about these two, they seem to exist only at the Olympics and disappears at other times, like Brigadoon or Shangri-La. |

Handball
Another very big and popular sport globally, but with hardly any presence on UK TV. Next major event is the Men's World Championships, in France in January 2017. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_W...l_Championship If you want to follow it, you'll need to subscribe to Loala1 TV or buy a ginormous satellite dish. http://www.laola1.tv/en-int/home/ Hockey Even before the Olympics this got decent coverage, with the World Cup on Sky, the Champions' Trophy on BT Sport and the Euro Hockey League (for clubs) often on Eurosport. In international hockey the home nations compete as England, Scotland etc, but competition does not start again till the New Year. https://www.youtube.com/user/eurohockeyleague/videos Judo A year-round sport with lots of events, there's some coverage on Eurosport, but mostly on the YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/user/judo/videos |

More followups
Modern Pentathlon The world's showjumping horses will have to cherish their dreams of vengeance on humanity for about another 6 months - the World Cup season is over for another years, but begins again in February. TV coverage is highlights only, but there is live streaming of the World Cup on the Web. http://www.uipmtv.org/ Rowing No more senior level events this season, but the World Juniors and Under-23s are actually going on this week, finals at the weekend. Usually gets plenty of coverage on Eurosport and on the BBC with noted expert John Inverdale at the helm, assisted by his BFF Steve Redgrave. There is also online streaming of WC and World Championship events. http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/fisa/ Rugby Sevens Obviously Rugby itself is second only to football in TV coverage, but Rugby Sevens has its own international tour, the World Rugby Seven Series, which will run from December to May, There's a separate women's series as well. It's live on Sky Sports with highlights on ITV4. |

Sailing
There's a Sailing World Cup that runs through the year with two more events still to come, one at Qingdao China 19-25 September, and another in Melbourne in December. To be streamed on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/isafchannel/videos Shooting Splits into two tours, with separate World Cup events for indoor Pistol & Rifle, and outdoor Shotgun, although sometimes all three unite. The final events of the year are the Rifle/Pistol WC in Bologna on 4-10 October, and Shotgun in Rome on 10-16 October. Once again, everything is on Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcF...tDmX1yMp6x_C0Q Swimming Another sport with a year-round World Cup, although not even Katinka Hosszu does all the events. There's a series of events coming up in the next three weekends, in Chartres 26-27 August, then Berlin and Moscow. BBC and Eurosport always have coverage of the Worlds and Europeans, streaming for the World Cup events. http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/fina/swimming/ |

Synchro Swimming
Doesn't seem to have anything planned at all until the World Champs in Hungary next year. Table Tennis Has lots of international competitions, including singles and team events. There's are World Tour events simultaneously being held in both Europe and Asia - one in Bulgaria and one in Taiwan. Major events are on Eurosport, and also on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/user/ittfchannel/videos Taekwondo There are actually at least two different forms of Taekwondo, but the Olympic one is governed by the World Taekwondo Federation. The International Calendar is a bit vague, but there is a British Championships at the Olympic Park on 24-25 September. |

Skipping past tennis...
Trampolining Doesn't seem to be anything major until the next World Cup in Baku in February Triathlon Coming to the end of a busy season, the main event is the 10-race ITU World Series, with the next event in Edmonton, Canada on 2-4 September, and the World Series Final / World Championships in Cozumel, Mexico two weeks later. Races are always live on BBC Red Button, and sometimes on proper grown-up BBC1 or BBC2 as well. Volleyball Like handball, a major team sport that used to be a Eurosport staple, but now has departed elsewhere. The major on-going international event is the World League, which will take place in June next year. In the meantime, there is a Club World Championship in Brazil, again, in October. https://www.youtube.com/user/videoFIVB/videos |

Are you Team GB?
Today is I am Team GB Day. It is the day you show your solidarity with our awesome Olympians by participating in a sports activity. Near me there is judo in Dewsbury and hockey in Huddersfield. There are runs all over the place. Go on, take part by entering your postcode, and going to an event near you. The vast majority of clubs will be doing things beyond this day, so if you are unable to do anything today, you could contact them about doing something on a day when you can.

A few post Olympic things this weekend
Triathlon World Series From Edmonton, Canada on Sunday evening, BBC Red Button and highlights on Monday BBC2. It's two sprint distance races. Jonathan Brownlee is going in the men's race. main opponent will be Mola. Overall World Championship picture is complicated, explained here, but a win for JB would do him a lot of good, whereas Mola has a result to discard. http://wts.triathlon.org/news/articl...nt_in_edmonton For the women, there's no Gwen Jorgensen, but Jodie Stimpson, Vicky Holland and Non Stanford are the main Brits. http://wts.triathlon.org/start_lists...dmonton/281454 Swimming The Swimming World Cup tour has reached Moscow. It's short-course. Don't have a full start list, but Brits Hannah Miley, James Guy, Adam Barrett and Ben Proud are all entered. Inevitably, Katinka Hosszu will be there. Streaming on Fina.org http://www.eurovisionsports.tv/fina/swimming/ There's also the final Open Water Grand Prix of the season, which is a point-to-point marathon from the Island of Capri to Naples, scheduled to be over 6 hours in the water. No Brits involved. Mount Vesuvius permitting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EQ9JIlWN5fI Slalom Canoeing World Cup no 4 from Prague, Czech Republic Live Streaming on YouTube, probably on Eurosport Player as well. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVa...o2x50KpYhnLsCQ Equestrian The Burghley Horse Trials - ie eventing - are on BBC, Red Button on Saturday, BBC2 on Sunday. |

On the subject of triathlon, it has been a great day for British women in multi-sport races.
Emma Pooley won her third long-distance duathlon world title in succession and Holly Lawrence won the women's world championship half-Ironman race. Back in Edmonton, Jodie Stimpson will try to cut her deficit for Flora Duffy in the overall standings. Those who competed in Rio are in for a shock as it's much colder in today's competition. |

One of the 5 (!) Americans in the 9-strong lead group is wearing arm and leg warmers, which I've never seen in a triathlon before.

Looking good for Flora Duffy, don't see any of the Brits getting back to her in the run.
Oh, maybe spoke too soon, Vicky Holland on a big charge. Don't think there's enough road left, though. Duffy looks to have cracked though. |

No matter where she finishes, Vicky Holland has done brilliantly in the final stage. Winter ends on the final lap. Summer Cook is cooking.

That was a good dramatic race. Vicky Holland climbed into fifth, and Summer Cook came out of nowhere to take the win when it seemed to be all over.

Looks good already for Johnny Brownlee, he trains with Varga all the time, so they should be able to put some time into the others.
Yep, Brownlee, Varga and Royle are flat out here, chase group has too many skivers. So, Johnny off on his own for the run, huge pack behind him. Mola near the front the chasing pack. |

So very comfortable win for Johnny, Mola second, and 4 Brits in the top 1en! Interesting that none of the other Brits made a contribution to the cycle when they were in the second pack.

A brilliant run from Brownlee. He was lapping some of the other runners. He wasn't under pressure from the others. Sheldon and Bishop battled for fourth. Four Brits in the top 10, and Alistair Brownlee was absent. It would have been five if Alistair had been involved and at his best. A great day for Great Britain's male and female Triathletes.

The overall series is still Mola's for the taking - regardless of what Jonny Brownlee does, third place in the Grand Final will clinch it for the Spaniard.

Cozumel plays host to this year's ITU World Triathlon Championships.
Between 11 and 18 September, a variety of races will be contested - elite Grand Finals, U23 and junior WCh, age-group WCh, etc. Here's the full schedule. The elite GF will take place in the closing weekend. |
