EE - Is there any point to Jay now?
There's nothing really keeping Jay in the show anymore - Phil and the rest of the Mitchell's couldn't give a rat's arse about him. He's just there because of his lifeless relationship with Abi, who looks set to be leaving for uni later this year anyway.
He is extremely underused, which I suspect is because DTC hasn't the foggiest clue what to do with him. Maybe the character has had its day? |

To be honest I think he will be given some big story line shortly with Phil and Billy....
If... and it looks that way and he gets with lola.... Phil won't be happy because he would much prefer Lola to be a single mam staying at home making sure lexi's needs are met he disapproved over a beale, he is certainly going to disapprove over Jay... he doesn't want to believe Ben is gay so Lexi is his cling of hope until he is released. Billy.... will be involved because it's Billy and he does what Philth says. |

I don't think he's had his day, he's never actually been given the chance to shine, not in years. He needs to get away from that drip, Abi and get a grown-up girlfriend, not some whiny child. He's very mature for his age and needs a mature storyline. His recent encounters with Lola aren't encouraging either, unfortunately.

As long as Jamie Borthwick can act his socks off, there is always a place for Jay.
I have to say though, the scenes with Abi and Jay last night were like stepping back in time. I didn't like them. |

I still have the episode from August 2008 in which Jase died recorded - Jamie Borthwick is amazing in that episode, especially given his young age back then. He is woefully underused by the show and seeing him wasted on his wet relationship with Abi... it's a shame.

Compared to the days of hapless Rickay, Jay is somebody with his wits about him and the kind of young male character that a show needs.

I always saw him as a background Billy type.

He's there to cause even more friction between Peter and Lola, it would seem.

I think the actor is happy just to support other characters on screen.

Yes, it's not like we have enough comments about Hetti Bywater's weight. Now it's time to spread ignorance to other actors too.

He is very, very skinny. But this could simply be a case of having a very high metabolism. I literally eat 24/7 but I never gain any weight, always stay lean. I doubt he has an eating disorder

I just don't really see any point to his character now, Abi either. Yes the actor can be very good on occasion, but I don't really see any use for a character who has no immediate family connections left on the show, and does practically nothing.

You don't find him being so skinny concerning? All he needs is food.

All he needs is a decent storyline, and for people not to make assumptions about him because of his weight.

I think he needs to be interacting more with characters his own age, like Peter, Lauren, the Carters, instead of being lumbered with the awful Abi and Dexter. |

I think he should discover he is gay and become Johnny's boyfriend. They would be adorable together
