Did a bit of research and I think it might actually be feline acne. And the injury I thought may just be part of the swelling. I think it might be that as I have noticed my cat's chin was a bit dirty a few weeks ago and the area where it was was a bit thin of fur. I'll be swapping out his bowls just in case and get him some non plastic ones.

God news is the swelling has already gone down a bit and he ate his dinner fine. I checked his jaw and there is no unexpected movement. So I am nearly 100% certain it's not a broken jaw.
