I've noticed that sometimes they introduce a character for a particular storyline and once that has played out, that character is hardly used again.
Someone will return with a dark secret and Aunt Babe also has a secret she doesn't make her own trifles they are shop bought.

I genuinely believe DTC cares about EE but if we do hear down the line that Cora has been axed or Ann decides to leave it will be very disappointing- DTC has a well respected RSC actor here and he can't give her a Storyline? to me this is very puzzling.
If the character is boring, they should be axed. It doesn't matter who plays them, there's no point in just having a boring character floating around just because the actress is good. If they can't give Cora anything decent then cut their losses and get rid.

Cora is far from boring- she is a very layered character and very complex but DTC prefers to invest in the likes of Shirley instead.

True. I think this is what has happened. There is no reason why they can't give her a new storyline. Shirley just mooched around the Square drinking at one point and look at her now! I think EE really let us down when they introduced Cora's daughter. The storyline went nowhere and that is a shame.

If they had just brought in Ava then fine but Newman made a mistake when she brought in Sam and Dexter because Ava's relationship with Cora was forgotten about.
Shirley was created by DTC but Cora wasn't - I don't think DTC would be stupid enough to axe an Actress of Ann Mitchell 's calibre but he has not invested in Cora so far and I for one am puzzled about that.
Give Cora a toyboy. Ha ha ha ha ha.
At risk of upsetting all of you, I am not actually impressed by Ann Mitchell's acting; I find the stilted way in which she delivers lines quite distracting. If she left tomorrow (hopefully taking the awful Dexter with her), I would not be fussed in the slightest.

Ann Mitchell is a great actress. I've loved her since Widows and she was honestly made to be in EastEnders. I think what has effected Cora's development was Jo Joyner and Tanya Franks both quitting. Ava was just an after that to try and fill the gap they were going to leave. So that was always a non starter.
They need to focus on her being more of a gran to Abi and Lauren. Do the storylines with them that they planned for Tanya and Rainie.

I think Rainie should be brought back clean from drugs. If the original actress says no they should recast her. I think Abi is leaving for uni.

Bring back Rainie or bring in a Brother, possible Actors could be Kenneth Cranham or fellow East End natives Terence Stamp or Steven Berkoff . Ann is East End born and bred and yes made for EE...
I'm sure DTC will have something planned for Cora as part of his plan to revitalise the older generation.

Cora may be 'layered and complex' as you say, but she clearly provides no purpose apart from being there to make little comments about things. I do like her though but if she doesn't get decent material then there is no point in her staying.
