Hi all,

Going by this image would you say it was backhaul congestion or congestion over the 2100 band..

signal bars look ok but I know they mean little compared to signal strength which is any where from 71-85dbm and 18-20asu

Isn't always caused by TrafficSense, other networks have congestion issues and don't have a TrafficSense like system to put blame on.

This was taken earlier today at Clevedon outside of TrafficSense hours.

TrafficSense can work all the way up to midnight but I've never seen it make a difference - in heavily congested areas where speeds are low they're low with or without TrafficSense.

Agreed Traffic Sense is more Traffic shaping than massive drops in speed like Virgin Media used to do on there fixed line services until very recently [still do on upload]. From what I've seen in my travels I still do see 20Mbps+ but mostly it is an average 6-10 which for me is perfectly acceptable for me allows me do what I need.

Going by the speed test I would say either the area is congested or it is on legacy backhaul.

I'd agree this is NOT TrafficSense.

Yea don't think it is traffic sence.. Used to get 12meg about a year ago. I am glad three are reducing tethering to 2gb as it may have a positive effect on the speeds

If I get a low speed like this I simply toggle flight mode and then speeds go back to normal.

That will reset TrafficSense on your connection if you've been tethering or file sharing over the connection.

Here is my example of Three congestion at it's finest

http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/a/770906187

Managed to get 3 months of half-priced line rental from them. Although not being able to do a lot of stuff online when out of the house is annoying. Turns out the all 4 masts serving the area were under "severe congestion" according to the guy i spoke to on the phone, as such they were all having their capacity doubled.

If they ever upgrade your capacity....I've been phoning them for months about slow data speeds. Finally received a date of the 19th March for a capacity upgrade. Since then it's been pushed back a total of four times. 19th March, 27th March, 4th May and now 11th May. Keeps getting pushed back and it's becoming annoying and there only the dates I know of could be more. Plus side is they keep giving me discounts but this "within three months" has been going on since Oct 2013.

Let's hope it's sorted soon. As my area isn't due to get 4g till next year at least.

In 3 months is the standard response I believe.

I've had the same thing going on with Three since November 2012, still not fixed with the rollout of 4G which they said would help. Not had no discounts like yourself though.

The only time I've had speeds that low and pings that high is when the local mast was being worked on.

I wish it was was that but over a year now..

Funny though because if I take 2 steps to the rear of my house and I am not kidding I get 12meg but in my house and to the front and the area in front of the house get slow speeds. So the rear of my house must be on a uncontested mast
