On Pointless when Alexander Armstrong reads out the options twice.

.
I love Pointless but there are a couple of things that annoy. When they do the questions, especially things like Anagrams, they never stay on the board long enough and keep flicking on and off. That means you never get enough time to take them in.

But the thing that really gets to me is the fake eating thing Alexander does when ever there's a mention of food. He not only pretends to overeat but talks while doing it. it is just so gross. It maybe silly but it really gets to me. He's supposed to be "posh" and is descended from royalty - Manners Xander please. (Rant over).

Programmes, usually documentaries, where they are hunting for something - monster croc or unseen jungle monster where they keep saying 'will they catch what they've came for' and you well know that there was never any chance whatsoever of them ever doing it.

Viewer competitions with pathetically easy questions. They also take too long because ALL of the legal crap has to be read out i.e Calls cost £1.50 from BT blah blah blah... It's a waste of TWO MINUTES!

I thought they banned those as they were so easy they weren't defined as quizzes but lottery & gambling?

Breakfast TV programmes at 6.30 trailing an item at 8.50, long after you've gone to work

BBC News Channel: Half their times are in the 24 hour clock, the other half in the 12 hour clock

BBC Breakfast presenters effusively thanking reporters and correspondents for two-ways - hang on, it's their job, they're paid to be there at 6 am

Presenters who say ''See you tomorrow'' when we know perfectly well they can't see us - can they ?

All the news readers, quiz show hosts, etc, etc who say "Welcome Back". I haven't been anywhere.

When I tune into live sport it IS live sport. Don't know what you mean.

Apologies if anyone's said this already, but when they minimise the end credits and run them really quickly so that you can't read them. I like to know who played what in a programme, and I have a couple of friends who work as camera crew and like to know what they've worked on.

Ad breaks on Comedy Central etc, during Two and a Half Men the breaks are 5 minutes long. (The broadcast show itself is 20 mins of content)

Boring TV ads, personally I skip ads when possible but advertisers need to be a lot more creative.

Loud music during an interlude - Pointless, The Chase, Tipping Point are all guilty.

When I tune into live sport it IS live sport. Don't know what you mean.
An example being last night on Eurosport when I tuned into Live snooker but it was showing highlights of earlier action.

Predictable scorers on Come Dine With Me. About 95% of the people that score the evenings give a 7 (or 14 on the couples version) and it annoys the hell out of me! THERE ARE OTHER NUMBERS YOU KNOW!

Chris Evans asking various people if they recognise a tune. In fact, just Chris Evans.

Quiz contestants who say 'Never mind', Well, 'I came with nothing' or act with horror as if it's personal against them when they get a question that goes against gender or occasionally sexuality type.

The latter is for women or gay men who get sports questions for their horrified reactions. Just had Jason Gardiner's reaction to a football question on 'Tipping Point'. He did know it in the end.

Brian Sewell on 'Celebrity Mastermind' reacting to a TV question. 'How on earth do you expect me to get that ?'

Slightly related to tv

The mixed up episode listings on Sky On Demand.

You'd think they'd go in either first to last, or last to first, but last night I had to look all over the place to find three back to back episodes.

The background 'music' which accompanies nearly all the documentaries on TV these days. If the programme is well filmed, scripted, edited and presented it does not need unrecognisable music.

BBC's Wild China is a typical example.

Don't get me wrong, I love music in general but ......

The inane grinning and forelock tugging by newsreaders or daytime tv presenters, whenever a royal headline/newspaper article is featured.

News rooms which are vast so that the presenters can walk around, and loads of screens. It's not necessary . Just sit at a desk for God's sake.

The mega fuss over Prince George on the Australia tour and whatever he did he was setting a trend or showing skills in something or other. He's just a toddler.

In 'Friends', whenever anyone enters a room and they go "HEY !" That really grates on my nerves.
What's wrong with saying "Hello" or even "Hi" ??

Yes, I really hate it when characters in American TV say 'Hey'

I've been watching Pointless repeats recently and there's probably been a mention before about the scripted 'banter' with the hosts and contestants.

One that's been annoying me lately is when AA introduces Richard, Richard always says 'Hiya.......................Hi everyone'.

And AA always says, "And there's just one more person to introduce...", when Richard has very often already been involved in banter with AA and all the contestants prior to this point...
