Yes this!
I go back far enough for our family to have used my little brother as the remote. ![]() To this day I can remember him being ordered to lower the tv, change the channel, or louden (I kid you not) the tv. |

When channels show the same films over and over again. Hot Fuzz has been on iTV and ITV2 so many times now, it's ridiculous. It was on last week and it was on yesterday.. In fact barely a month goes by without it being on. They occasionally loan it out to the BBC too!

ITV player on the smart TV. Works for adverts but not the programmes. Cant even forward the adverts. For some reason Foyles war didn't record on the Humax last sunday. Tried to watch it on ITV player and it let us watch the ads but not the programme. In the end watched it on the computer.

Jonathan Ross having his guest sit on the wrong side. It works for Graham Norton but with Mr Ross and his big desk, well this just feels weird and wrong. Please stop it.

Adverts on Sky's Catch-up TV service. I know they can be skipped but they shouldn't even be there considering Sky costs over £70 a month now!

And one in a similar vein: When they show endless repeats of some films from a series but never show others. (Obviously this depends on what they've bought the rights to but it's annoying, nonetheless.) |

![]() On adverts on pay channels: same here on FIOS. Gobs of money spent each month, and these formerly quality stations, e.g., Sundance and IFC, now have adverts. Also, some programs on On Demand, network ones mostly, won't let you fast forward past the advert. They own us, you know, cable television does. I quit Amazon, I doubt I could ever quit cable television.

Stupid adverts
Moronic presenters "What Does This Mean?" The Great Unwashed who cannot string a sentence together. Documentaries for the vacuous. I am always ahead of the narrator. Long hair and beards on men. "The housemates are in the lounge" I can see that with my own eyes. "We'll see you tomorrow!" Oh no you won't as only I can see you. You can't see me! |

Probably a bit specific, but 8 out of 10 cats does countdown annoys me a little. I enjoy the show, but it's the fact they literally play two rounds then jimmy says 'they've been playing in teams so far but let's shake it up a bit' and they play one on one. They've barely been playing two minutes! And it's unfair the one on one is a letters game for one pair, and numbers for the other. Otherwise I love the show but that bit always bugs me.
I also dispise shows that try and force you to tweet their rubbish hash tags. That is so uncool these days, get a grip! Always makes me laugh when the hash tag is stupidly long, it's like the producers haven't got a clue! |

Is it just my imagination, or are the ad breaks on Quest and Dave getting longer and longer? If not, they certainly seem it due to the never ending number of charities trying to get you to sign a direct debit. If it isn't those it's the ambulance chasing lawyers and the no-win-no-fee compo fraudsters.

Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead seem to always be on itv. They're good films but talk about overkill.

Current TV bete noir is the BBC Local weather presenter standing over the west of our region when pointing to the weather over in the eastern areas of it. Come on luv - if the region stretches this far out, at least show us the forecast for it. And whilst you're at it stop sticking your hugely obvious pregnant bump out at the camera. What do you want, a round of applause for managing it? |

It's fairly clear now that the broadcasters have susssed that we all like a particular type of tv - QI, Top Gear, MTW, Shaun Of The Dead etc - and will quite happily pump it out endlessly for us to occasionally land on whilst surfing in the evening. It works, sometimes it might be a better bet than the mainstream channels for 30 minutes.

£70 a month? Surely there are cheaper packages than that?
There certainly are, especially if you phone up and threaten to cancel your subs!!!

The fact that the Sky+ box didn't record Match of the Day on Saturday evening because, presumably, it was called "Match of the Day: FA Cup Highlights" (and I only discovered this after the Sunday am repeat).

Claudia Winkleman's use of the phrase "massive luck" instead of the less clunky "good luck"

Coming up next/What you have missed
It seems to happen a lot on more reality based shows but they spend more time telling you about what is coming up on the episode you are are sat there watching and then re-showing you what they just showed you earlier in the episode (like on those Escape to the Country shows).
How much of actual show is there? |

What do you want, a round of applause for managing it? I like Simon Pegg, but they overdo Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead here in the U.S. too. I started watching the third in the trilogy, The World's End, and was enjoying it. Suddenly, everyone turned into........well, if you haven't seen it, I won't spoil! Here's something I didn't know: The film [Hot Fuzz} is the second in Wright and Pegg's Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy and was preceded by 2004's Shaun of the Dead and followed by 2013's The World's End, each of them featuring a different flavour of Cornetto ice cream. |
