Along with too loud background music and voice-overs at the end of a programme, this must be the most often complained about on PoV! When Pop Idol was on the announcement of the winner (Will) was almost immediately, probably about 5 seconds. Since then the pause has got longer and longer and is now an irritant, with no tension whatsoever!

Ralph Ineson. He is everywhere isn't he? He's like the 'go to' bloke for narrating middle of the road programmes and some adverts. Doesn't help that he sounds as bland as a margarine sandwich.
Another irritation is on The Chase, they've started building up the 'tense' background music while the chaser is answering questions in the final chase to climax exactly when the chaser catches the team. This completely gives it away well in advance that the team have indeed lost, and eliminates the notion that the chaser might get a vital last second question wrong. Totally ruins the suspense.

The increasingly long, repeated intros to every programme. It's now got to the point where they're even doing it after a commercial break. Salvage Hunters immediately comes to mind and, worst yet, Titchmarsh on Capability Brown.
The sheer number and frequency of adverts on Channel 4's catch up. I tried to rewatch the first few episodes of The Returned Series 1 and planned to watch the rest of this series before the new one starts.
The programmes were totally spoiled by the ad breaks; I made it through the first two episodes but when, during episode 3, there was a gap of no more than 10 minutes between ads and I was informed that there would be no fewer than SEVEN to sit through before going back to the programme I gave up.
Lost viewers mean nobody to advertise at.
Do they really expect to annoy viewers into buying what's being advertised?

I can't recall seeing adverts on 4OD/4All via Sky On Demand. It has a break bumper then a C4 promo, usually the same promo every ad break, but no actual adverts.
This is annoying in it's own right as it seems like a break for no obvious reason.
The online version might be different though.

Being very pedantic here, but often when the BBC News reports on the football scores, or have a generic football related story (on TV or on their website) they often bring out this old archive photo they've been using for the past 25 years!

And the generic Cockney voice over whenever a football event is being trailed / advertised. Sounds like Dom Littlewood with tonsillitis.
people that enter cookery shows when they clearly know nothing about food, eat nothing more "exotic" than a boiled egg and have little to no interest in trying anything new or different.
Sections of songs being looped over and over again in programmes. I don't need to hear Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" for about the 500th time FFS!

If that's what she does, I wonder where she picked that up from, given that she was born and brought up in England? It's mainly a Scottish/Irish thing to make a distinction between words such as 'wine' and 'whine'.

I use it via PS3 and yes there are definitely adverts all throughout the programms.. So annoying. I have never seen as many as 7 like the other poster but have definitely seen 5 in a row. And sometimes (this may be just mine) it then freezes after the adverts have finished and it has to be reset.

It annoys me on television and it annoys me in films, when a character/group of characters enter a place and one of them looks around in awe or disgust and says:
"What IS this place?"
Once you clock it, you hear it in EVERYTHING and it's bloody annoying. I've never in all my years on this planet EVER heard anyone in real life say it.
Worst of all, it always reminds me of the old advert for Smash instant mash with the tin Martians, where the line "WHERE. IS .THIS. PLACE?" is answered with "IT. IS. CALLED. HUD-DERS-FIELD."
So whenever I hear the line "What IS this place?" my mind automatically adds a metallic voice saying the Huddersfield line straight after, which kind of kills the mood of any scene.

The Chase. I've caught bits of it and I'm irritated by the big bloke in the suit who I assume is 'the chaser'? my mum in Oz tells me this show is beginning there soon and this rugby-forward type woman in a suit has been everywhere and all over the place promoting it. She asked me "who the heck is that woman who wears a suit all the time, she's everywhere!". I've only seen the huge man on the show so far and he annoyed me. Silly concept.
