Hmmm, Betty - I think the problem you have is that you have only "caught bits of it" and I do think if you sat through a full show or two it would make more sense to you.

And yes, they do wear a the same suit all the time, it is part of the character they play on the show.

Hmm, that's definitely the irritant - the 'character' element of the suited individual. Nope, just cant take to it - I don't like the big bloke in the suit with the dark hair. Just a personal observation, I'm not a game-show kind of person.

It annoys me a song is used in an advert but they edit it, for example to cut out a couple of bars of instrumental so they can get to the chorus again, or to repeat the chorus when you know verse two should be next.

The voice of the lottery bloke is rather annoying. When he's talking he sounds like someone is sticking pins into him. Can't watch that programme anymore.

That annoys me because I often prefer the advert version and then hear the single which sounds watered down in comparison.

When a trailer is shown for a programme and then the announcer bangs on about said programme at the ident. I don't need reminding what was shown about 5 seconds ago!

Also I can't stand it when the announcer hypes up shows. No I don't care who leaves Strictly!

Ah, well that's a big barrier then, if you're not a game-show kind of person then the chase probably isn't for you, with it being a game-show and all that.

I think the chaser characters are purposely not massively likeable to make you (the audience) root for the contestants. The little people joining together to get a victory over the powerful who sits on high lauding it over them.

How about ad agencies using cheapo imitations for VOs instead of the real deal? There's an ad currently running using a poor impersonation of Matt Berry's oddball inflections from The IT Crowd - I'd be quite happy if MB's agent sent them a cease & desist letter, it's so bad.

If it is Matt B doing it, that's even worse if he can't do a decent impression of his own character.

Similarly, someone does a poor impression of Brian Blessed on some ads. I'd be annoyed if it was me.

Everyone on the SCD results show pretending it's Sunday when everyone knows it's recorded after the live show on Saturday.

I suspect that many of the ordinary viewers do not realise that it is prerecorded.

I've seen /heard this one a few times and if it is Matt Berry I think he's referencing his role recording voiceovers in "Toast of London", excessively weird inflections et al. "Yes, I can hear you Clem Fandango".

Having a recap after a 3 minute advert of something we've just seen, but series 2 of The Returned never had a recap and the last episode was over a year ago

And that's why I gave up trying to follow the new series - hadn't a clue about what was going on! But I agree about recaps after advert breaks - totally ridiculous and has me shouting at the TV "Yes, I know, you've already told us that three times"...

Films such as the current Bond being reported as "breaking box office records". Means absolutely nothing unless the figures are adjusted for inflation. Of course a popular film will take more in 2015 than one did in 2004 - why is this news?

Be fair though, that's no different from when on Pointless they refer to how they did "on yesterday's show" when it was probably only half an hour ago. Or indeed Brucie's long running gag that the Play Your Cards Right audience were "so much better that last week's"

And on SCD I think the professional dance and the musical guest slots are filmed in advance of the Saturday show so it's a real triumph of editing and pretending.

Two things today:

1 - The way that you can't figure out the reference to Bournemouth during the opening sequence of Match of the Day (all I can figure out is that George Best once played for them), but the Match of the Day 2 opening sequence reference to them is extremely obvious (their badge on their stadium).

2 - The way most of this series of Doctor Who is made up of two-part episodes. (Remember the days when most of the season were stories that were wrapped up within 45 minutes? Well, you can forget that this year.)

Beat me to it. I also remember when the entire series was a serial on the same story and not these save the world in under an hour every week we get nowadays, so in a way the two-part ones are quite welcome. It certainly isn't the most annoying thing about this year's Doctor Who.
