The use of the words "Two times"
I have just watched an advert for Solpadeine Soluble tablets which work "Two times as fast" as non soluble tablets.
What's wrong with saying "TWICE AS FAST" ??

The fashion for having every programme begin with 5 minutes of 'catchup'.

The Great Interior Design Show has taken this to new levels of idiocy by having first the catchup, THEN a preview of the programme you're about to watch! So you know that someone's going to paint a room dark blue before the thing's even started
Has anyone posted Mitchell & Webb's "Gift Shop" sketch on this thread yet?

The new way that news items filmed on cameras are then shown as one third visible in the middle of screen with the two outer thirds being greyed out. Use the whole screen!!

The adverts seem to be getting longer. By the time the programme comes back on I have forgotten what I am watching"

The way Janine Machin on Look East introduces each news story with "next". Presumably she thinks we think it'll be related to the previous story, even if they're completely different.

The person who fills in for her when she's unavailable doesn't do that.

Estate agent speak. It's to differentiate between a whole month and four weeks, apparently. If you say per month it can mean four weeks rather than a month which can have a different number of days in it e.g. (Feb = 29, April = 30, May = 31).

I believe state pensions are paid every 4 weeks and not per calendar month, so you can get 13 months worth in a year. I haven't got there yet but DH has!

I always laugh when estate agents say 'can achieve'.

And on Dave they're about every 7 minutes and last for about 5 mins. Drives me round the bend.

That's not the fault of the news people, it's the fault of the people who film it originally who don't know how to use their phones properly. Hold it horizontal when filming or you will end up with a crap video when it's on telly or the internet.

How? Stretch it sideways, making everything way out of proportion? Or zoom in and chop most of what's going on? Like Finny says, if people used their phones properly there wouldn't be an issue with broadcasters trying to fill a landscape shaped screen with a portrait shaped video.

Maybe its not so trivial but the insistence of "next week" on (insert drama here) trailers at the end of this weeks episode.

Look, if we are still watching by the time the screen goes black chances are we'll be tuning in again!

An Americanism I detest. Even worse on sports news.

The gradually increasing amount of people on TV who don't say there Ts in certain words and just sound common

Example - ''communi'y'', ''par'y'', ''socie'y''
'Hazelnu''y'.

Nothing to do with annoying TV. It's a standard contractual phrase to make it clear when a payment is required. Month could also mean lunar month (28 days).

The Sensodyne Toothpaste ad - if he says the words 'sensitive' and 'sensitivity' once he says them a dozen times. How can teeth be sensitive? They're made of bone? It's the nerve inside them which can be subject to pain. Smug b*stard.

Also, 'sensitive bladder' ad. Leaky bladders are not sensitive, they leak. End of.

Oh yes! I don't find it eerie though, just extremely annoying. I hate it so much so that I've stopped watching it

My main bug bare, like quite a few others here, is the ridiculous length of gap while announcing who the winner is etc.
