People who get questions wrong on quizzes but they allow it. Cant think of any specific but this type of thing...

"David cameron"
"Cameron, yes that is correct."

"Prince of bel-air"
"I was going to say the fresh prince of where, Bel-air is the correct answer."

This is relevant on the game show the link where they need a specific answer but the contestant tells them too much info. They let them have the answer but any other quiz it would be wrong!

I could be wrong but I think it refers to a scene in The Young Ones when Rik and Vivian were playing Trivial Pursuit and Vivian was being really pedantic about the answers.

I do think i have a point though, one of the questions today on the link and the answer..

"Hair pin"
"The full question was a kirby grip is better known as a bobby what in the usa? The correct answer pin, but we will accept your answer".



Any other quiz show and the answer hair pin wouldve been incorrect. For this show to work their answers have to be spot on for them to guess the connection between the four answers, so her saying hair pin is wrong if the link is a word which goes before or after the answers to make new words.

It really bugs me because the questions are pretty easy but they buzz in so early and get the right answer amongst other words and the host allows it every time.

That's what's good about University Challenge. Paxo is a stickler for the exact answer!

I submitted some videos and was really annoyed when they didnt show them especially when they were funnier than 99% of the ones on the show, and they were new!

I dont know how many times ive seen the same clips over and over again. All from the 90s by the looks of it or american.

Somebody upthread mentioned all the umming and ahhing over answering quiz questions, citing Eggheads in particular. I stopped watching this programme for this very reason.

I work with a guy who was on a (winning) Eggheads team about 2 years ago, (they only won about £4k) and the production team apparently told them "take as long as you like to answer the questions and talk through your reasoning for it". He's been on Mastermind, Fifteen to One and Only Connect so was used to TV but also used to just answering the bloody question and not making a big song and dance about it all. He called their bluff by taking almost 15 minutes to answer one question. They changed their tune after that, funnily enough.

YES! Exactly this. On the one or two occasions I catch it on tv, I leave it on and try and find the clip submitted post-year 2000...it never comes.

My daughter and her friends submitted a really funny, genuine clip and it never made the show. I don't understand their reasoning other than it's incredibly cheap television and they're not prepared to spend any money on it at all.

When i submitted mine it had a huge t&c list with it which i skim read. One of the points was that if they show the clip, you get paid but they own it. They are allowed to share it with other companies they work with but you only get paid the once. You also arent allowed to submit it to rival shows if youve received payment by them.

That would explain the amount of american clips. They probably have enough to rotate them so the majority of people dont notice, and only pay the once.

They're not the only ones to do that - there was a scene in Spooks that was set in Moscow. To make it look like winter, they put Hermoine Norris (for it was she in Russia) in a winter coat. The illusion was blown when you see somebody in the distance wearing shorts.

When the BBC dump sport on the BBC Red Button and show rubbish on BBC1 and BBC2.

Not so much tv but I hate how asthmatics in movies always take their inhaler when something shocks/scares/worries them. I've had it for 32 years and never once taken my inhaler because something stressed me out a bit, it's nonsensical and I don't understand how that came about.

I must admit to watching YBF. The show last night was mostly British clips and I hadn't seen them before. My favourites are those of animals and children because you can be almost sure that they aren't staged like many of the adult ones.
