Recording boost channels coming soon?
A couple of my mates say that they're running some trial software which makes it possible to record the boost channels.
So with a bit of luck this might be released for everyone in a few weeks time. |

Oh well, fingers crossed. The last trial - the one that put the boost channels in the main peg - lasted several months. Let's hope this one is quicker.

I haven't watched a single program on the recently added Sky channels because mainly there is little on there that interests me, but also I very rarely watch live TV. Will these channels soon allow recording?

Yes, that is what the trial is for. They are trialling new software that makes the Internet channels recordable. In effect, they will become exactly the same as the regular channels that you receive through your aerial, so you will be able to pause and rewind them as well. I also read some time back that, when the new software is rolled out, the box will be able to record three programmes at once, provided one of them is from the Net.
Hopefully when the new software is finalised, it will have overcome the picture break-up on Net channels that still affects at least my box. It isn't anything like as bad as it used to be, but I can guarantee it happening at least once in the course of an hour's viewing. Whether you watch the content of the Sky channels is up to you, of course. One man's meat is another man's poison. By and large, I agree with you. There isn't a great deal there that I want to watch. Sky One I find particularly disappointing. I used to subscribe to Sky between 2000 and 2006, and it was a better channel then, in my opinion. Since then, much of the programming that would once have aired on Sky One is shown on Sky Atlantic instead. That is one channel that they have not made available on YouView. On the other hand, I find that there is still some decent stuff on Sky Living, and there is usually something of interest on Sky Arts, both of which are included in the package. |

We have the entertainment package free at the moment but hardly ever watch any of the channels. When I have to start paying I will cancel.
I agree that Sky 1 isn't nearly as good as it used to be. I do like some of the stuff on Discovery and wish History was included. |
