Best and upcoming R&B singers in the country
There have been some really talented young R&B vocalists come on the scene in the last few years and I want to know of more. Who are the current crop in UK & Ireland and who are waiting in the wings with the potential to be successful (critically/commercially) Perhaps people being developed by labels or working abroad but from UK / Ireland. My definition of R&B is quite loose so interested to hear opinions and debate on this.
Some thoughts so far Female: Emeli Sande Laura Mvula Jess Glynne Ella Eyre Adele Rebecca Ferguson Leona Lewis 3/4 of Little Mix if they went solo Male: Michael Kiwanuka John Newman Maverick Sabre Sam Smith |

Marsha Ambrosius
She's british, yet has been more successful and well known in the US Amy Winehouse Mutya Buena (her one and only album is worth a check out) |

Sampha, AlunaGeorge and Jessie Ware are pretty awesome.
Not exactly within the remit of this thread but Janelle Monâe, Rhye, Frank Ocean and Miguel are some great, non-UK R&B artists. Monâe in particular is amazing. Regardless of whether or not she attains large commercial success, she will deservedly go down as one of the best minds and musicians in the genre's history. |

Alexandra Burke has an incredible voice and is so often unfairly overlooked!

Alexandra will have a difficult time getting recognized as an R&B singer since she spent most of her career so far doing dance-pop.
Daley is a good UK R&B singer, but he seems to have more success in the US than he does here. |
