I've always loved this video of a leopard called Lakadema (sp?). It's a wonderful illustration of intelligence and inter-species maternal instinct.

Wonderful video, but what happened to the baby?

I suppose it died.

Bloody bloody hell!!! The dichotomy between the savagery and tenderness of nature is unbearable at times.

It says at the end of the video "It was the cold that finally made the baby baboon go quiet" so I'm guessing it died

Great video. I wonder what it was that clicked in that lioness' brain to make her mother the antelope rather than killing it.

Especially as Orcas could possibly be the most powerful non-human intellect on the planet.

It is sickening.

Tragic. Nature gone wrong seems is more savage.

A real shame.

Last post from me tonight.

These incredible scenes have been going on for many years after the first Polar Bear to play with the dogs told all his mates to come and join in the fun!

It would have died of starvation if the cold hadn't got to it first. They said if she'd had her own offspring it may not have happened. How vulnerable they both were as a result.

Amazing story. I was concerned about so many dogs chained up and open to attack from the none friendly variety of Polar Bear! I watched the other videos on the first link. Very good.

This one is a lion tiger and bear in captivity.

I think it was a David Attenborough programme that showed crows doing some extraordinary things.

One I recall was that they would pick up a nut that was hard to crack. They'd stand by the side of the road and wait for the traffic lights to stop the cars, then they'd hop into the road and place the nut about 2ft in front of a car wheel, and hop back onto the pavement. The lights go green and the car moves forward and breaks the nut. The crow waits for the lights to turn red again before hopping out into the road and collecting his broken nut.

What set Humans apart from the other animals is the development of farming.

No other animals have ever developed farming and this was crucial to the beginnings of civilisation.

Once people did not have to hunt and gather food they could turn their attentions to other matters.

Farming is the cultivation of animals, plants and fungi for human use.

Do ant cultivate aphids for their use or do they hunt and gather wild aphids.
