Only it has caught up now Apple seem to have fast tracked things under Tim Cook. Iphone 6 will offer a genuine alternative for people who wouldn't normally go Apple. Iphone 6 could easily become the "Nokia 3310" of today. Obviously it's had to be sure with the lacksuture Iphone 5C sales but Apple seem to want to have a full range now of fashion and flagship devices. Overall sales of the 5C will hit into budget Androids and the larger screen phones could dominate.
![]() The iPhone 5C is not a budget phone and its sales aren't eating into much of anything

It doesnt matter what Apple do to iOS (8 looks like its finally reached Android gingerbread levels of functionality), it will never dominate, and indeed it never did. People think iOS was once the biggest and Android took the crown, but actually Android passed iOS sometime before iOS passed Nokia Symbian, which was the biggest for a number of years.
The 5C is a relative failure, no one wants a second rate Apple product, which by the way is still very expensive. It has lower specs than the Moto G but is 3x the price. Apple getting the hardware some way up to date wont win them many more users because its pricing will have to increase to compensate. It HAS to maintain its profit margin or its market cap will sink, the only way to do that with up to date hardware is to charge even more. Market share is dropping for them and now Windows phone is the threat they need to worry about. The war with Android was lost years ago. Windows phone is now up to 1/3 of iOS sales and has passed it in some markets. |
