Good Morning Britain
Anyone got any info on Good Morning Britain? Content? Extra presenters/reporters? Is Richard Arnold staying? Will the set have a window?
I'm surprised nothing has come out yet. |

Not seen anything yet, apart from what's written on Wikipedia! It states that ranvir will be staying on but only on Fridays, which I think is a bit of a kick in the teeth, she's a good presenter and hasn't done anything wrong in the later version of daybreak, yet she's relegated from 5 days a week to just one. Bit of a come down don't you think? Hope helen is still part of the team

Richard Arnold will still be one of the main presenters of Good Morning Britain. One reason why not to tune in.

Richard Arnold does a ten minute slot out of 150 minutes a day, hardly a main presenter lol

I work at the Old Kent Road branch of DFS and can confirm that ITV Breakfast placed an order for an elastoplast coloured sofa on 9 April 2014.
If anyone from ITV Breakfast is reading this, please make sure that you are in on Wednesday afternoon to accept delivery. And for anyone else reading this, our Easter Bank Holiday Sale ends 8:00pm Monday 21 April 2025. And don't forget, much like ITV's Daybreak, our credit is interest free for 4 years! |

ITV have done it again and purchased the hype at a high cost thinking it's transferable.
We are straight back to Adrain Chiles and Christine Bleakley, cheque book transfer for millions and just didn't work, for them they worked on The One Show a different show with it's loyal audience, but when on ITV they didn't work. Time and time again, it's occurred, the successful presenters of David Frost, Micheal Parkinson, Anna Ford and Angela Rippon got together to form TV Mayhem, with Anna and Angela getting sacked. Whilst not big money, Aled Jones just hasn't worked, he is good on Songs of Praise, but not early TV. ITV continue to throw lots of money at BBC presenters to try to copy the BBC service, but should use it's own home grown talent instead. ITV no longer has a good regional TV back up, and lots of adverts and competitions when most people want a snippet of news before going to work, so it will fail to gain a lot of viewers. Finally Strictly can make ladies look very attractive and for a time on SCD the biggest LE show in the UK you have a lot of fame, some think that continues post SCD but actually post the show and out of the make up and dresses your back to an average presenter within a good team, not a personality. |

At one stage ITV even hired in a former editor of BBC Breakfast and that didn't work either.

OMG he is just horrendous. That accent, that ronseal face and caramel bouffant hair.. I cannot abide him or the over expressive Mr. Arnold.

recently watched the excellent bbc2 doc on breakfast tv ,in the early days with breakfast time and tv-am, it makes you wonder where itv can now go and what they can try. when dumping gmtv they tried to go up market with daybreak then when it didn't work tried to go back to gmtv. what is it going to be this time. will they opt for something like the channel four daily?

ITV used to have an excellent breakast show in the eighties, which was aimed at the middle of the market, but then decided to pitch their breakfast show at the bottom of the market and ratings slumped. They seem to think that women, which is what the show seems to be aimed at, are only interested in soaps, reality shows, diets and celeb gossip.

According to sources, the new show will be completely different to what has gone before. I hope that is the case, but I also hope they stick with it even if it doesn't initially work. The more they throw in the towel and revert to GMTV, the worse their problems will get. They need an innovative programme to kick start things, and even though Daybreak didn't get off to the best of starts, viewers eventually settled for the original version. The ratings didn't fall off a cliff until they trend it back into GMTV in two stages. I do think that this time things will be different and they'll do relatively well in that slot, even if they are still miles behind BBC1. It has to do well purely on the basis that it isn't Daybreak. Daybreak was a tarnished brand purely because it appeared to replace a 'much loved' GMTV and the original bad press didn't help, and then it turned into a cheap copy of GMTV so the comparisons were always there and will never go away. |

ITV's breakfast service is too low brow. On the few occasions I've seen Daybreak, they've been yapping on about last night's soaps, as if this is real news.

Helen almost certainly won't be on the new show if Ranvir is staying. Kate Garraway is staying too but she has a Heart FM midday show, so I'd expect Ranvir to become the new 'Kate' and Kate will be the new 'Helen', ie only making occasional appearances. Although that said, Charlotte may only be doing a 4 day week too.

GMTV was in decline in its later years and ITV had to think of something to replace it. However, they replaced it with something less successful and Adrian Chiles isn't really suited to discussing the X Factor.

In my opinion, Sunrise on Sky News is by far the best breakfast show - especially when Eamon Holmes presents. Perfect balance of half an hour's news, followed by an entertaining newspaper review. Always different every half hour, too.
Breakfast is next best, but every half hour is too similar. They're gonna miss Susannah too, Bill Turbull is the best one left there: Charley Stayt is too beige / pitbull and seems to have a bad attitude. Nobody bar Bill is too "easy viewing / funny" enough. The balance is wrong. ITV though: they've just think everyone's thick and wants a hit of Joey Essex or Corrie all the time. Sky wins. |
