Just switched over to see who's presenting and there was Martyn Lewis - straight back to BBC Breakfast. He gets around far too much and I just can't watch him; so slimy.

Tuned back in now. Thankfully no Slimeball. However, in their round-up on the hour, one of the 'stories' is a couple who go to a photo booth once a year. Laughable.

And yes, it is a real news story apparently. Here it is

GMB - News with a harder edge.

Haven't the BBC been doing a series for years where they go back to the same group of people every few years and record how they're progressing in life, I think it started in the 1960s.

GMB - where news never sleeps

I used to like the old CBS slogan - News at the speed of life

”

7 Up - it's a Granada Television project which started in 1964 and they catch up with the same people every seven years. The 1998 series was shown on BBC, the others have been on ITV.

GMB is very different to GMTV Because their are 4 presenters doing the programme at the same time with more news but no lighter stores like you see on GMTV Daybreak and TV-AM. but bringing back Ben Shepherd from GMTV and signing up Susanne Reid from BBC Breakfast has not done enough to beat BBC Breakfast and getting the viewing numbers above 800.000 to 1m or more

I}More news and no lighter stories[/i]? You must be watching a different programme from the rest of us then!

It's not done anything to beat BBC Breakfast, in fact it has only reached 800,000 on its launch week, and since then all that it has done is lose viewers.

what i mean was that Good Morning Britain did not copy GMTV Daybreak and TV-AM and i did see GMB ,and their is no lighter and fluffy stores all the time like you saw on tv-am GMTV and daybreak . and i bet Susanne Reid joining Good Morning Britain (ITV) was something to do with strictly come dancing last year .

For the past two weeks it's been Charlotte, John ( in for Ben) and Ravi. Today Ben is back and it was Ben and Charlotte. So the line up must have two females when all are in, if not it's just two? Suzanne is off, so Charlotte must be off soon when she returns.

John looked good the previous week doing two jobs. LBC drivetime 4-8pm and GMB. See the difference it makes. If that was Chiles he would have looked drained out, that's why him and Daybreak never worked

It's Susanna - not Suzanne, or Susanne, Susanna.

Strange Ben returns after his two week break, then has today off.

It has a more relaxed feel with John and Ranvir, the other one (Charlotte) is stiff and unnatural (and loud) when they do the informal bits. I don't miss Suzanna - she is not relaxed either. Ben is false. I was never a fan of John or Ranvir but they seem more suited to this format than the main presenters. I reckon they will lose the 4th presenter permanently.

Why are they pandering to such vanity today? silly little girl who has had her freckles removed as she had to slather on foundation to cover them up? what a silly story , is this all they have to report on?

Accepting we are in the school holidays a very poor figure and below the 15% share ITV says it needs to make GMB viable. Next revamp in September anyone ?

Yes another of those ITV execs paid millions a year who manages to come up with the revolutionary idea of changing a purple sofa for a bloody yellow one or something and expects viewers to gasp in awe and flock back. That is what their previous "revamps" have amounted to.

The record shows that every revamp has lost them significant numbers of viewers.

I'm sure it has considering the audience's probable shock and disgust at being treated like mugs by execs who think their audiences are so shallow to be wowed by a "revamp" that amounts of nothing more than cosmetic changes.

Without wanting to pick on Sean fletcher personally, more the role itv has given him, but this week he is obviously on holiday, and there's
No cover for him, same happened last time he was off. If they want to do sport, why don't they have a relief presenter or use an itv news sports reporter? To me they just don't know what they are doing, either have 4 presenters all the time, or go back to the old gmtv/daybreak format

A new sofa AND some new presenting faces. I'm thinking Keith Chegwin, Fiona Phillips and Rustie Lee.

I actually like John Stapleton and if he and Susanna just presented I think it would be a hit just as long as they cut down on the stupidity in the way of both competitions and news items, yet again the execs at ITV supposedly know best and will either do another revamp their way of this time decide to do away with a breakfast programme altogether.

Maybe an idea for the ITV execs should be to watch old videos of the BBC's Breakfast Time and get ideas from them such as bringing in a chart recap, Window On The Weather
etc. If the ratings are try then it is terrible and if the execs even after all these changes and revamps have still not learned then I suggest they resign from their overpaid jobs and employ people who need the money to think of a brand new format and next time get it right.

I feel ITV were wrong and crazy in the first place to bring back or have Good Morning Britain as that is what the programme was called in the beginning, it was Good Morning Britain and what else?. Oh yes it was Good Morning Britain 6-7am followed by TVAM.

But people compare things and even I thought oh they are bringing back Good Morning Britain so I wonder if they would have finally got the format right but sadly it turns out just as crazy and inane, as for Martyn Lewis and I like the newsreader Martin Lewis more as I watched one edition of Martyn Lewis's Money Show on ITV in which advice he gave was to actually use a credit card.

I still remember it now as he said people tend to say to steer well clear of them but his advice was to use them but make sure you pay off any debt straight away and only borrow small amounts on them, I just thought what the hell as if people are already hard up they should cut up and get rid of there credit cards and not use them even for small amounts.

What a twit.

Two presenters and a newsreader today, much tighter. Get the presenters to read the news and you're in BBC Breakfast territory. Sports presenter should only come in and out as required.

Correct....because they always fail to revamp the one thing that actually matters.

If ITV watched Good Morning America closely they would have realised that is what they do. GMB doesn't need 4 presenters

There is a case that maybe years ago the format they changed should have been left alone.

Weird looking back and seeing how ratings for the last GMTV were reported.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...apes-910k.html

Quote:
“GMTV could only muster 912k (22.6%) for its final ever edition last Friday, according to overnight data.

Between 6am and 9.25am, 892k (22.1%) were tuned in to ITV1, as a further 20k (0.5%) watched the network's HD channel.

BBC One's Breakfast appealed to 1.23m (31.1%) between 6am and 9.15am. The channel has consistently eclipsed ITV in the early morning ratings battle for two years. Before its revamp last year, GMTV topped 1.5m on a regular basis.”
