and no adverts, no inane competitions, and no BGT or soap fixation.

Oh, and it's more slick & professional too.

They did a little montage of highlights at the end of Daybreak today for the last episode - just the Lorraine and Aled years. No mention of Adrian, Christine, Dan Lobb etc!!! Then Ben Shephard gave a tour of the gallery of the new studio and interviewed Susanna, Sean and Charlotte. He also said hello to regulars Richard Arnold and Dr Hilary - so no change there! Then Aled trailed his pre-recorded Saturday and Sunday show.

Surprised that they only used the Aled/Lorraine years in the highlights which was actually the era of Daybreak with the least viewers.

I saw that, I am waiting the DS article " Adrian and Christine in Daybreak Snub".

You just know that GMB will be the same drivel just with a different wrapper.

It also acknowledges some of the audience members may be people other than stay at home mothers.

As far as Good Morning Britain goes, couldn't they have come up with an original title? GMB sounds so old fashioned and is off putting in itself. And then there is Susanna Reid, who I can't stand...she is going to be Christine Bleakley all over again in terms of how successful she'll be for ITV, I just know it.

Oh dear that's awful.

Why is so much professional artwork such complete and utter crap? Like you, I also believe I could do a better job and I am not a graphic designer either.

BBC Breakfast has a huge advantage in not having Richard Arnold, Ross King, Dr Hilary and Lorraine Kelly.

This has got 'disaster' written all over it.

I have NO idea why they scrapped GMTV as that is ultimately what Daybreak became.

This new incarnation sounds exactly the same with a few new faces but Richard bloody Arnold and Dr Hilary still clinging on for dear life....

Because viewing figures had fallen to unacceptable levels for ITV.

Unfortunately Daybreak did even worse which is why they moved back to the GMTV format.

...which ironically rated worse than the original GMTV and the "ill-fated" purple Daybreak.

I wrote "more slick" for contextual accuracy.

This is what I understand the least about this latest launch - and what makes me worry it's going to fail again. Why keep these tired old "experts" AGAIN? Susanna herself said in today's interview "a new team, but with some old faces like Richard" and made out that this was a positive thing. I honestly see Richard Arnold as one of the worst things about GMTV, someone who makes me want to turn over, yet he's still being kept on.

There seems to be a real fear of actually properly starting afresh, and it would be a pity if that holds GMB back.

All itv have to do is pick a few presenters whose iq is actually above 30.. But also make sure they dont thnk its a must to be bitchy....Or feign smiles too often...... That might just do the trick.....

Yes, shame the GMB producers just keep giving their mates lifelines.

I'm sure I will have a peek on Monday and see what changes have been made, but will then hotfoot it back to the BBC when the first advert / competition comes on. So, I should be watching it for about 3 minutes.

Helen Warner, ITV's director of daytime, tells Broadcast Daybreak was a failure but she is confident GMB will succeed (although she doesn't say it will overtake BBC Breakfast).

Well having seen the 'preview' this morning it does appear that GMB is exactly the same old tat just with the addition of 4 new presenters.

Who'd have thought it ?

It probably depends what ITV define as success. Initially, it will probably be to halt the decline and bring the figures up a bit to a respectable level. The figures are just in the gutter at the minute. There is also nothing wrong with a show getting good figures but not winning their slots. This Morning loses to whatever is on BBC1 but its a very 'noisy' show, is far more high profile and wins awards all the time. That's probably what they're aiming for here.

I have my doubts over it if it's more of the same, but Susanna and Charlotte were on This Morning and appeared to get on very well, so if the team is strong then everything else will follow.

I shall miss Aled I thought he was great and was very natural, had a great sense of humour. It's a shame his new weekend show is on so early in the morning, it would be better on in the evening as it looks good. I'm not looking forward to Good Morning Britain, same old same old! I can't understand why they are bringing Ben back! I think were switch over to some other news channel.

Ben said on Loose Women, it is more news related than before, but then he said, but still showbiz and celeb interviews.

Loose Women gave him a Cockrell as a alarm device

Only if the content is improved/compelling. Otherwise it will be new faces and new "chemistry" fronting the same content but in a new setting.
