Might just be my computer but neither of those two links work.
He certainly has the best and most varied back catalogue of work before becoming the Doctor. I was a massive fan of his before he was announced so you can imagine my ecstasy when he was revealed as the next Doctor. Unbelievable! Can't wait 'till August

Hmmm, looks like the entire Kasterborous.com domain is down, thats a shame I suspect it will be back by tomorrow. Most probably the Daleks hacked it to get foreknowledge on Peter
![]() Well anyway there is a bloke who runs a tumblr page dedicated to Peter Capaldi the actor. He got many fans to send in cartoons of Capaldi as the Doctor, made it into a scrapbook and sent it to the fan post. Peter actually got it, loved it and has personally replied to some of the fans with I think either his own cartoon or their cartoon, I can't remember. But he wote personal handwritten messages of thanks on them, where he gets the time I'm not sure. He's bad ass and cool ![]() Tom Baker says he will be fab, but goes on to say everyone in the role is always fab ![]() P. S. Looks like the site is back, the Daleks noticed we were on to them .... ![]() P. P. S. "At least 2 of those that contributed to the book have received signed postcards, each with a different bit of artwork drawn and painted by him behind the promotional image of him as the Twelfth Doctor! *" |

I am enormously, stupidly excited about Capaldi. I know it's a bit silly to praise him as the Doctor before actually seeing his episodes, but he's pretty perfect isn't he?
He's given amazing performances in everything I've seen him in (which includes a very wide variety of roles), even in parts where other actors might not put in a lot of effort, such as minor characters who only have a couple of scenes. He exhibits all the qualities I would look for in my ideal Doctor. Also, his respect and fondness for the show and it's fans is astonishing. I saw him filming in Cardiff a few weeks ago. He was very friendly and polite to everyone, and seemed to go out and speak to fans, sign autograpohs and pose for pictures at every opportunity. I was lucky enough to get quite a good view of the filming and, even though I only saw multiple takes of one short scenes, I really liked his performance. |

![]() But I'm quitely confident. And agree he seems to be an absolute class act in the way he interracts with fans. As indeed were Matt, David, etc.... |

You need to watch an episode or two before confirming whether he's gonna be one or the other.

I took my sister's little lad to watch filming in Cardiff a couple of months ago and Capaldi was brilliant with all the fans. It was pissing it down with rain but he kept coming back for photos and signing everything handed to him. One of the crew said he'd got so many fans waiting to meet him he'd given up nearly all his breaks and it was all they could do to get him to have any lunch, because he didn't want to let anyone down.
I agree he's an absolute class act. My nephew really can't wait for series 8 now, he's so excited

I think it would be wise for people, for the sake of their own later enjoyment, to stop saying how awesome Capaldi will be.
Think about it, if you keep building him up and building him up in your head then no matter how good he or his portrayal is, it will never be good enough to meet the impossibly high expectations you have set for him, meaning you may actually feel let down. I Think he looks like he'll suit the role, I hope he'll do well in his portrayal of the character, but I will decide nothing on his abilities in the role until the end titles of episode 8.1 are rolling at least. |

I think he is going to be a fantastic Doctor. Looking forward to when the series returns in the autumn.

I was delighted when Capaldi was announced but surely this thread is a bit premature? Its just as bad as those who are slagging off the next season without having seen it. Why cant we wait and see?

I hope I'm wrong, but Capaldi is a great Malcolm Tucker, I'm not sure he will be a great who. Maybe it's just because he has a tough act to follow, matt smith really personified who IMHO.

To be fair, the original post makes that clear - that it should really be about how Capaldi is awesome and is the Doctor, rather than definitely awesome at being the Doctor. It's a little bit tongue-in-cheek, and nothing wrong with that, eh?

I was maybe a bit premature when I started this thread, but I really do think he is awesome. He's had some great lines, but even the subtle things he has done have been awesome, small movements in his face, hand stroking chalk, wit, awesome!
I like him, I've never watched Tucker, or many other things he's been in but I think he is great as the Doctor. |

The moments when his interest is well and truly piqued. The prospect of being miniaturized, mocking the Sherwood robots, having found Orson Pink... love Capaldi's expressions and delivery. Strongly disagree with those who say 12 doesn't find joy in anything or want to experience the Universe. The whole idea of Listen was 12 desperate to find something new in the cosmos.
Then there's that leg flick at the end of Time Heist..

Capaldi is brilliant already, but his story is incomplete. We'll be in a better position to judge in 7 episodes time - but I'm confident he will have won over the nay-sayers.

He's good, and I feel I'm taking to him quicker than with Matt, but I don't think i've seen enough of him yet to say awesome.Hes brilliant in the episodes where he is the focus and he gets to shine, but at this point, as much as i've tried with Clara I really hope she is going at Christmas, so that we get to fully experience 12 in the spotlight with a less overbearing companion.
