Anybody else find it utterly shocking there are still people posting saying he cant act? wow,

anyway, His acting in HS was trremedous.
Good actor let down by rubbish scripts and some rather horrible casting ( yes I do mean Ms Williams)

Not bad at all. Peter Capaldi gets the top spot for acting and an admirable second place as the Doctor behind Tyrion Lannister, and Doctor Who is behind only Game of Thrones as best drama. Well deserved, I think.

Contrary to what the article says though, Clara did die, we saw it happen... her parts in Hell Bent were just the bits in between we didn't see.

I think he's the best Doctor since Patrick Troughton, perhaps around the same level as Tom Baker.
But they just aren't serving him well with the scripts he deserves.
It's just such a waste.

It's so frustrating. The vast majority of stories aren't necessarily bad episodes, it's just that the stories don't engage as stories. The stories for the most part are as if they are merely throwaway means to an end.
I want to be involved in the stories, not told at the end of each episode "Oh the story didn't matter, it was just a load of fun nonsense to serve some fancy high concept tricksy thing we wanted to do".
The stories now just feel like they are tricks played on the viewer. What I mean by that is that we perhaps settle down hoping to watch a good story played out, but to then find out that the main story itself was just a MacGuffin, and what we were tricked into caring about was meaningless really as the series arc was what was more important.
Now each episode feels like the story is just a bit of mucking about for a bit to serve as a means to get to the end scene of the episode.

I'm going OT a bit, but I'm just trying to emphasise the point that it is vital that they write some bloody good stories for Peter Capaldi's Doctor before he leaves and his potential is never realised.

I've liked Capaldi in the role for most of his 2 series, but I have to say he simply seemed to shine so much more in the Christmas special without the overbearing Clara hogging the limelight.

Thought he and River were great. Shame that was likely her last episode and that we didn't get to see them together more. Was nice to see 12 get to have some fun also.

Looking forward to seeing him front and centre in the Clara-less series 10 (whenever it comes)

Disagree, I thought Heaven sent/zygon inversion was some of the best DW ever,

Peter Capaldi is totally awesome. His acting experience really showed this year as he brought so many different facets to his Doctor. Last year his Doctor seemed a bit unsure and too abrupt at times but this year we've seen a stronger willed, smart and dry Doctor emerge.

Peter had some fantastic emotional material to work with this year which elevated his portrayal and his Doctor has become my favourite Doctor of new Who by a country mile

I really really hope that he will stay more than three series but somehow I don't think Peter will but I will be very sad when he goes.

Hope he stays for at least two more series. Heaven Sent is my favourite episode of Doctor Who ever, and that's testament to Capaldi's performance.

Shame with everything this guy does for fans he never gets a NTA nom.

Perhaps if he was younger and cuter.

Well, you never know.....maybe a BAFTA nomination?

He's a good bloke, whatever. Wonder where he keeps his OSCAR? Centre of mantelpiece, with spotlights?

(Probably not. )

Thats what bugged me. Tennant got his arse kissed like no end then Matt Smith came along and I dont recall him winning one.

Smith won two, nominated for a third - and got a BAFTA nomination. I can hope Capaldi gets some more recognition for his work this year.

If PC does not get BAFTA nom for HS, I have no idea what to say. He's already been let down by the fans( who he treats so amazingly) with no NTA noms imo.

Like said I said, younger and cuter gets the fan awards on this show.

I don't know if I should laugh, or cry because it's true.

The NTAs are just a celebration of mainstream trash culture mostly voted for and viewed by the dumbed down idiots who consider programs like 'Waterloo Road' to be serious drama and watch Hollyoaks and I'm a Celebrity! Get me out of here. DW was temporarily dragged into that swamp because a few housewives got their panties in a twist every time he gurned at the screen but the reality is an actor like Capaldi is too good to be slumming it with such trash. Most of the people who vote for the NTAs wouldve been dribbling into their TV dinners and showing facial expressions akin to a monkey thats just been handed a rubiks cube within the first 3 minutes of Heaven Sent. I dont give a damn about those awards and what those people think.
