Lamb
I've just put half a leg of lamb in the slow cooker with an onion, carrot, stick of celery, couple of garlic cloves and a glass of red wine. Sprinkle of sea salt, black pepper and rosemary. 6 hours to wait now.

Unless I wanted pulled lamb (like pulled pork or brisket) then I wouldn't do it in the slow cooker. I would roast a leg of lamb.
If it was diced lamb then a nice slow cooked stew would be lovely. |

I did a shoulder of lamb today, I made a marinade out of oregano, mint, pepper, salt, paprika, rosemary, olive oil, garlic and a dash of lemon juice and left it to marinate overnight. I cooked it today with lambstock I made from bones and onions, wrapped in foil for 3 and a half hours on 140-50. It was very tasty.

Morrisons usually have good deals on meat.
In my local store there are a couple of fridges near the deli counter where they have meat deals whether it be lamb, pork, beef, etc. The other week I got a decent sized pork shoulder joint for under £5. Actually it might of even been under £4 and it was a more than worth it. It would have been a good price at full price and not reduced. I think it was 1/2 price. |

Well, it was nothing special. Not overly impressed with slow cooker result. I shall roast it in the oven next time.
You live and learn, trial and error. So what you gonna do with the leftovers? Someone his already suggested minty lamb curry which I'll probably try. |

A couple of takeaway dishes.
Shredded crispy lamb (like shredded crispy beef that is available in some chinese takeaways). Mongolian lamb - which is available in a Thai takeaway near me. or shredded or pieces of lamb on a cous cous / bulgar wheat jewlled salad with beetroot and/or grilled aubergine |

Marks and Spencer sold off all their unsold legs of lamb and beef joints at half price after Mothers Day.
I was told about it early in the morning so went and bought three of each and put them in the freezer. My leg of lamb will go in the oven low for about three hours tomorrow. I will put garlic, celery, shallots, rosemary, salt, pepper, a knob of butter, 2 halves of lemon and red wine in with the lamb. I like to put it in a self baster cooking thing and then just ignore it. |

i like to rub the lamb in olive oil, paprika, diced rosemary, garlic, salt and black pepper ...at 220 for 20 mins then put on a bed of onions, carrot, celery, mix peppers and 150ml chicken or beef stock for 2 hrs with a foil cover, then 20 mins without foil. Then i reuse the veg and stock with the juices for a gravy - just adding cornflour on the hob. Sometimes adding a spoon of recurrent jelly or mint jelly
