The Ratings Thread (Part 59)
Hope the Great North Passion thing rates better than the crowd who turned up.
Emptied out rather quickly once it was clear it was religious Continuation of: The Ratings Thread (Part 58) |

The thing about Lucy's death is that its not actually about her dying. Her death is not the main event. Its what happens after. Her death was initially going to be a shock. They were going to keep it secret but The Sun decided to spoil it so the BBC ended up confirming the story. That's why the trailers are all about what happens after her death. This is why they won't air them until after tonights episode.
I think next week should pull in stronger figures. At least I hope it does but I do not expect huge EastEnders ratings for tonight. a) its Good Friday and b) the weather is really good. So I think all the soaps will be down today. Although EE airing at 8pm might put it on par with the ratings for the 7.30pm Corrie if they are lucky. |

Lucy's death aftermath looks like one of many big storylines to carry EE through the summer and winter. Another one that's interesting me a lot is the Stan/Shirley/Mick story, which I suspect will be given an Xmas climax. |

Nice Number for Posh Pawn on Channel 4 last night...
1.6 Million. Does anyone know if that was a one off or not? I really enjoyed it

The earlier reference to Claudia Winkleman's success on the SCD spin-off It Takes Two reminded me she was so successful she was replaced in 2011 by Zoe Ball

![]() I'm making an assumption, (as I have no inside information), that she was considered to be successful by the BBC in view of the length of time she was retained by them on the show before leaving of her own volition. Also, to keep this post remotely on topic for this thread, the ratings for ITT were always good. Zoe had previously stood in for her on the show when she was on maternity leave with her third child. Lots of references to this at the time - which can be found online easily enough. This is just an example..... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...me-family.html |

I hope so because EE does deserve good figures. Monday should be, as I said, in and around 7.5/7.6m. A good week for EE would be figures all above 7 million and 34-35% shares would represent a nice improvement.

I think all the talk of who should take over SCD only goes to prove that nobody they can pick is going to please everyone. Tess/Caudia seems to be the transition that would be least unpopular IMO.

And the two characters the wider public are familar with are probably more off-putting than a draw - the Ian/Phil stuff is as tedious as it comes really and been going on for 20 years now. One minute they're trying to kill each other - next they're crying in each others arms. Really EE, really?
For all the criticism about the planned Tina storyline in Corrie at least that involves a character and an actress who does have some profile outside of the show itself, so should be somewhat more interesting to the casual viewer I'd have thought. P.S. I hear from sources (well, someone posted it earlier!) that the saviour of EE has no interest in a live episode for the 30th. There goes it's shot at a much needed ratings boost then. Quote:

If there was a LIVE ep everyone would be saying they are chasing ratings. They just cant win can they. |

I can see Tess Daly accepting and working with:- Graham Norton, as he is a big star. Claudia as they have worked together before. John Barrowman, as an all round entertainer. I can See Tess being nagged at home to speak to BBC producers to lobby for Vernon, who is also guest hosting on The One Show. I can't see Tess accepting NIck, as better than Vernon and may quit if he was imposed, Nick has no knowledge of entertainment or dancing. I can't see BBC producers risking loosing Tess as well, when X Factor has Simon Cowell back, they will want to play it safe, so either a big star, who we all would accept as logical, the big three above, or Vernon. |

I think Tess will have a big say, the BBC will not want to loose her, she would accept a big star, Graham or John, but if they consider Nick, she will think Vernon is better. Veron when he had his Radio one show always was promoting it and is a regular on ITT I think he would prefer to work with the BBC, Nick if he got it would be on Saturday nights too much with the lottery shows as well, so I can't see that working at all. This is a very very big year for SCD , Winning the ratings last year, X Factor back with big guns and after regaining the 7pm slot, Loosing Bruce will have a big effect, so they must get it right, either a big name or Vernon, Quote:
It needs to be an entertainer as Tess is capable but dull. Sticking with Bradley Walsh.

From DS
MasterChef climbed in the ratings on Thursday evening, according to overnight data. The BBC One cooking series was seen by 4.6m (21.9%) at 8pm, up 300,000 from last week. Later, new series Parking Mad brought in 4.3m (20.6%) at 9pm. A repeat of BBC Three documentary Life and Death Row appealed to 1.9m (15.5%). On BBC Two, Great British Menu attracted 1.9m (9.8%) at 7.30pm, followed by Digby Jones: The New Troubleshooter with 869k (4.1%) at 8pm and Protecting Our Parents at 9pm with 749k (3.6%). ITV's Ade at Sea interested 2.6m (12.5%) at 8.30pm (155k/0.7% on +1), followed by Walton Sextuplets at 30 with 2.9m (14.1%) at 9pm (235k/1.4%). On Channel 4, Posh Pawn intrigued 1.4m (6.8%) at 8pm (215k/1.0%). 15,000 Kids and Counting brought in 925k (4.4%) at 9pm (210k/1.3%), while 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown amused 1.10m (6.8%) at 10pm (151k/1.6%). Channel 5's Beware Cowboy Builders was seen by 702k (3.3%) at 8pm, while Driven to Kill: Harold Shipman gathered 897k (4.3%) at 9pm (116k/0.7%). Person of Interest thrilled 707k (4.2%) at 10pm. On E4, The Big Bang Theory amused 1.10m (5.2%) at 8pm (380k/1.8%), followed by How I Met Your Mother with 636k (3.0%) at 8.30pm (232k/1.1%). ITV2's Tom Daley Goes Global entertained 285k (1.4%) at 9pm (122k/0.7%), while Celebrity Juice quizzed 949k (5.5%) at 10pm (306k/3.0%). |

People with inside knowledge will be betting on the SCD host; whoever is the favourite is the new host.

Emptied out rather quickly once it was clear it was religious Continuation of: The Ratings Thread (Part 58) You think people attending an event called "the passion" on Good Friday were not expecting a religious themed event?
