I would agree with that and it will be interesting to see what Tess does with all those links but as I said she is no worse than the vast majority.

His chat show is recorded midweek so not an issue and the Radio2 show could be moved to say Sundays or be pre recorded like Jonathan Ross.

I have heard more people complain about Bruce than I have about Claudia though.

Whilst these things are true on paper, I couldn't envisage a scenario where Norton is juggling both, along with Strictly. Presumably all involve significant investment of time before the shows are aired / recorded, i.e. research and rehearsals. As Markynotts suggested earlier, Norton would quickly burn out (unless he has huge stamina) and / or audiences would quickly tire of seeing and hearing him everywhere.

Anyway, regardless as to whether he would have the time (or the BBC could find the time) for him to host SCD, the big unanswered question is whether he would want to do so in addition to his other work, He might not want to, preferring one or the other.

BGT about where I expected. Relatively nice day (here in Yorkshire at least), holiday weekend but still a really good showing.

BGT had nearly 7 million more than any other programme on ITV yesterday. You've Been Framed was second most watched with 2.91m/17.9%.

Is it wrong to say that actually, I rather enjoy The Guess List! It is a fun, simple format that I think works. Incredible that a show that is new that goes out just before 10pm gets more ratings than a new high profile LE format at 6.30pm!

But they also gave Graham Norton "Totally Saturday", so both have history of poor Saturday night shows.

Tess has had to carry Bruce the last few years so as long as they don't try and make her something she isn't she'll be fine. The humour doesn't come from forced one liners anyway - it comes from interactions with the judges and contestants and is generally much funnier when it's natural rather than scripted anyway.

That says a lot when Amazing Greys is following Britain's Got Talent. It's wasting the BGT lead-in.

I liked the Guess List right from the off at least there is some laughs. A bit disappointed with its ratings really - would like to see it more like 4m.

I agree with you Brekkie. Totally Saturday was a good idea but terribly put together. It was just too muddled and random. Norton carried it off though. Without him it would have been even worse!

But your points about SCD and the humour are spot on. It is primarily a warm, friendly show. Tess and Claudia will maintain that element perfectly. Claudia will do the humour with her quirky style (which I like) and Tess will do the main presenting which she is perfectly capable of. Len will still be there with his off the cuff comments so the very elements of what makes the show popular will still be there.

And, if Claudia has landed the role, bravo to the BBC for finally realising that having two women front a massive show is just as good (if not better) as a male/female line up.

I hope it has got enough ratings to get a new series next year. It could be potential grower over a couple of years. Whilst BBC1's schedule is not setting the world alight on Saturdays against BGT, it is at least remaining to be consistent with its 3.5m - 4m offerings. It's a bland schedule, but it seems to be working.

BGT still pulling in the punters, is there any hint of a decline? Not really! ITV will be pleased.

Please put Amazing Greys out of its misery already! Awful for ITV again bar BGT which puts in another good performance.

ITV have though completetly failed to put a supporting schedule around BGT. If the BBC schedule minus IITWI were running around BGT Pointless would be 4.5m Casualty 5.5m and even The Guess List would benefit. ITV at the moment seem to be one big show in a sea of dross - dont know why because they used to have big nights based around their big hitters where has it gone wrong?

Well, the BBC have yet to unleash Ready to Tumble on the world! I have always been optimistic about its performance, but looking at what is happening in LE at present I'm now certain it's going to sink without trace!
