Yep 7pm far too early. Football aside I tend to start at 9pm.
Stuff like bgt, voice and others are destined for PVR |

Fantastic news. The Generation Game brand is well loved and automatically will pull in an audience. But with Miranda involved, who is probably the most popular female personality on tv right now, this will guarantee a very strong audience for its return. If they can air this in Q1 next year, leading into the Voice or air it against Rising Star to take it down instantly, it will strengthen BBC One's Saturday night domination even more.

I don't know about the Generation Game - the BBC have tried a few times to bring it back but it's never worked out, and I'm not convinced Miranda is the right choice for it. I also think one problem the show has is it's quite a naff show that just doesn't look slick compared to other shows around today. I suspect it cost a lot more to make than it looked, but if it's just another pilot which ends up on air it'll probably get a fairly cheap set and just not look the part. I think really the BBC need to pilot it in house and then if they're going to make it make a 6-part series and throw a bit more money at it. |

Not sure why its being said that the previous Generation Game revivals did not work out. Bruce got 4 series out of it in the early 90s and then Davidson got 8 series out of it after that.
Would agree though that they would have to update it and spend some money on it to make it work now I think. |

I could see it working too but if you were bringing it back from what I have seen tonight Rob Brydon would be perfect.

For some reason I expect that sentence to end ... is the new presenter of Breakfast.

The Generation Game has been piloted by the likes of Paul O Grady and Graham Norton, you need a host who is willing to get stuck in and it might work with Miranda.

If this carries on all weekend, the rating on Monday should be like an EastEnders Christmas Day.

Rob Bryson is certainly funny enough but the games would need updating.
I do wonder if The Generation Game was of its time and could look out of place now. The games like marching with soldiers seem a bit naff now. Update the games that's the main thing. ITV have had success with reviving old gameshows like Family Fortunes, Through the Keyhole, Mr and Mrs etc so its not surprising the BBC want to bring back one of the biggest hits of the past, Gameshow wise, I'm surprised Jeopardy has never been done over here, would be a fun one to do either as a daytime show or a primetime Saturday Night show, |

Some of the games do look a bit dated in this era of big studios, flashy graphics, question and answer quizzes etc.
Performing a sketch from a play or icing a cake etc, will that sort of thing cut it in 2014? Having said that, it'll probably do well on name recognition alone. The pensioners will lap it up. The dedicated thread about this is funny. Started by Samuel in over the top style, almost jumping up and down as if the BBC have just announced the biggest show ever, not just some Saturday night game show. And then the thread immediately in typical DS style gets a bucket of sick thrown over it, as all subsequent posters think it is the worst idea ever! |

Potential for a very high +1 figure on BGT I suspect - last weeks was rather high considering the late start so a 7pm start will make it even more significant.

That said it's only BGT and I heard it was just an average episode anyway. |

Any word on the ratings for Classic Doctor Who on the Horror Channel, and the ratings higher or lower or about the same as you would expect from the Horror Channel?

Last week I thought they were being smart in anticipating extra time with the football. This week they were just asking for trouble.
That said it's only BGT and I heard it was just an average episode anyway. ![]() I don't know what they were thinking with the scheduling though. It aired at least half hour too early and now they're tied up with the same schedule next week. I guess they'll switch it around for 3rd May if Amazing Greys sees a bad decline tonight. |
