Is that the source? And I agree, having the Sunday eps after the big week rather than before should help ratings.

Comes out in Monday's episode, or the press on Monday? If it's the latter, I don't see why it's so exciting; it's still going to be leaked pre-transmission.

I'm not expecting anything mega exciting to be honest. Seen too many "embargoed midnight announcement" flops. If it's the former, seeing Natalie Gumede (Kirsty) appear on Monday's episode WOULD be a massive shock.

Comes out in the press I think. I'll try and find out some more.

So Prey gaining a bit back after the fall for episode 2. It was good but did not live up to the promise IMO.

Why can't Corrie ever keep anything secret?, they tell us everything that going to happen usually months before, no wonder ratings are dropping by the time the eps shows you feel you have watched it already, unlike Emmerdale and Eastenders nothing is ever a suprise.

What are you on about, we have no idea if that tweet is even substantiated let alone anything surprising/a major spoiler, and we still have no idea who killed Tina and it happens on ITV in 2 weeks. There's still no detail on the engagement parties, Owen finding out about Anna's deal with Phelan (even though we know it's coming) and a load more. If anything we know less now about Corrie than we have in ages.

Blah blah blah.

I suppose if its the return of a big character they want everyone to know so they tune in.

Coronation Street topped Monday's soap ratings (May 12) with another tough day for Peter Barlow, overnight figures show.

7.42m (37.1%) watched at 7.30pm on ITV and 149k (0.7%) on +1 as Rob came dangerously close to uncovering Peter's affair with Tina. 7.31m (33.4%) returned at 8.30pm and 147k (0.6%) on +1 as Peter hit the bottle yet again, leading to an emotional showdown with Carla.

EastEnders was close to Corrie in the ratings, bringing in 7.27m (35.2%) at 8pm on BBC One with the arrest of Jake Stone and the first appearance of Pauline McLynn as Yvonne Cotton. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 358k (2.5%) at 10.30pm.

Emmerdale attracted 5.99m (32.4%) at 7pm on ITV as Debbie pushed Pete away, adding 129k (0.6%) on +1.

Hollyoaks interested 1.06m (6.2%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 and 114k (0.6%) on +1 as George and Danny shared a surprise kiss, while E4's first look claimed 790k (4.3%) at 7pm and 151k (0.7%) on +1.

Over on Channel 5, Doug's diagnosis in Neighbours was shared with 676k (10.2%) at 1.45pm and 761k (5.8%) at 5.30pm.

Elsewhere, BBC One's Doctors was seen by 1.4m (21.4%) at 1.45pm on BBC One

ED under 6mil on a Monday for a supposedly big week. Not good.

If we don't know those things now, i'm sure the TV Times and the various Soap Magazines will tell us about them between now and then.

The Corrie/Eastenders gap is getting very narrow indeed. It is good to see Eastenders holding up so well.

It's the nature of the beast. Press releases help generate interest. As long as not too many big details are released I don't see a problem with soaps or any TV programme doing this.

If you take on board the total audience for all showings of the two main soaps for Monday (i.e +1 and BBC3), EE is currently edging ahead. Both soaps are in a position now where either could establish itself as 2014's biggest soap. Who'd have thought that was possible a year ago?

On the other hand, you could argue that EE hasn't really gone up by that much despite some outstanding and heart wrenching storylines and performances, yet Corrie has dropped by almost 2m. Swings and roundabouts really.

Correction it Used to generate interest, as the above Corrie ratings show its actively driving people away now, which watch if you already know everything that's about to happen almost minute by minute.

Not all surprises pop numbers, promotion is needed. Maybe the way to do it is a surprise in the programme then followed by a press release?
