2009 - 12.17m (50.0%)
2010 - 11.90m (46.6%)
2011 - 11.10m (44.7%)
2012 - 11.97m (43.9%)
2013 - 11.67m (47.3%)
2014 - 11.41m (48.1%)

At a time when many shows across the board are recording sharp declines, Britain's Got Talent's figures are perfectly fine, no matter what anyone may say like it.

It's like I'm a Celebrity - always the same ballpark, but delivers the numbers year-in, year-out.”

Share up then.

And proving 11m+ still wanna watch this show.

No doubt this post will never ignored by Samuel.

Hardly a disaster that he is suggesting.”

Not ignornign them, I know BGT is down 4% so far this series. Thats what I based my argument on. However it is worth saying that if you ignore the launch episode which got an almighty boost, the trend hasnt been good since episode 2. Episodes 2-6 have been 6% down on average. Im not saying it is terrible or a disaster, Im just saying its down from the previous year for the 3rd year in a row, and looks set to be the lowest rating set of auditions since 2008.

Yesterdays episode was 15% down from the FA Cup final post BGT episode of last year by the way,

Great for ITV last night, finally!

I think viewers are seeking out these "social events" type TV programmes, hence why the numbers are holding up well even as everything else collapses.

BBC don't have many of these programmes at the moment.

Why do you think everything has to increase all the time?

The trend for most shows is down.

6% is hardly nothing worth talking about. Should the ratings be higher? Yes. Is BGT rating OK? Yes. End of discussion really.

Despite popular myth that when it's warm the whole country seems to relish in some kind of magical transformation in a place called happy land, where according to some posters the whole country is on a jolly or a picnic and forget about the picture box in the corner of the room, ITV's figures yesterday seem to throw water on that theory!

In reality, not everypone likes being out in the heat for hours upon end, and in the evening will still want to unwind infront of the telly! If there is event tv on, then people will watch it, and despite Samuel hoping and praying BGT gets 2.5m viewers, viewers still stick with this show like poo on a sheeps bottom. There must be something mesmerising that viewers like about BGT, because it is going to be around for at least another 75 years. Wowser at the FA Cup ratings. Fair play to ITV, they had a good day yesterday, and well deserved. Their schedule was a blinder!

ITV had a really good night, BBC 1 didn't. End of discussion.

Well if ITV could not win hands down yesterday then they never would - still the Final did better than I was expecting especially across the whole broadcast but after weeks of being told BGT should be later it got no boost and is I think a little on the low side.

Almost everything else was almost a waste of electricty to broadcast.

For those having sat through the FA Cup Final programme and BGT, maybe they wanted a break from staring at the TV, regardless as to what was on.

Itv had the rub of the green this year. Both the semi final and the final going into extra time, you couldnt have scripted it better. The only thing to top it off would be if next weeks Champions league final also goes to extra time.

BT Sport got battered, beaten 24 to 1 by Itv at their peak. Embarrassing for BT Sport really. I expect Sky Sports will hold up much better next week, normally theyre only beaten by about 4 or 5 to 1 by Itv for the UCL final. BT Sport need to sort out their reputation and quality of coverage, being beaten by such a big margin by Itv is a very bad stat.

BBC1 will get their chance when World Cup/Wimbledon/Commonwealth Games overkill kicks off in a few weeks.

And why is everyone on the BBC pretending the Commonwealth Games are as big as The Olympics? They aren't!

Although yesterday we were discussing the 2nd Corrie whose ratings were up on the first because more people were watching not to mention the big ratings for the 9pm dramas in the last couple of weeks.

The average and peak for the la liga title decider on sky sports 4 & sky sports 1 please? No doubt greatly affected by the fa cup showing.

I don't mind Clive, it's Andy who I can't stand!

It's become fashionable to hate ITV's coverage and Chiles, but I thought he did a decent job. The style of their pre-match interviews are top notch -- certainly better than the BBC's.

And...................on the hottest day of the year in 2013 when it was 30 degrees, a certain tennis match achieved a peak of 16m viewers! If people want to watch telly they will, regardless of the weather. Next weekend is forecast to be cooler with the occasional shower. IF BGT's ratings don't benefit from that what will the excuse be? This week was the hot weather. We'll have to watch this space.

Some people north of the border might think otherwise, given the juxtaposition of another event.

Indeed. It's blatant licking of the most obvious kind! The UK got The olympics for probably once in a lifetime and it was amazing, a world class event, hard to be beaten. Scotland (the UK) get The Commonwealth games, (last held in the UK in 2002, likely to be held again at least twice more in our lifetimes) and everyone goes out saying it's incredible, amazing, comparing it to The Olympics just to make out that it's bigger than it is because of a Scottish referendum.

Don't think so. There hasn't been anything overly nasty posted. Just the usual bickering.

I was replying to the post that stated the weather had an affect on BGT - I agree with you its just an excuse.

Robbie showed up mentioning how (lightheartedly) that things don't really change on here and you said "hello me old mucker" to him. I remarked it's like a soap in this thread with all the departures and returns . All 3 posts were deleted - along with the Samuel stuff earlier.

Fair enough about the Samuel stuff but don't get the nice posts unrelated to that being deleted.

Sorry we are comparing the audition stage of a talent show with the history making feat of Andy Murray

Yeah that works

Its a fashion I am happy to join in with - Chiles is awful IMHO.
