I think for the Autumn Saturdays, BBC One should do the following:

18:00- Pointless Celebrities
18:45- Doctor Who
19:30- Strictly Come Dancing
21:20- Casualty
22:00- News
22:30- MOTD

Thats guaranteed ratings domination. Atlantis can be relegated to another day and slot.

Exactly, there isn't that much difference between the series average, always been between 7.5m and 8m.

I much prefer Moffat/Smith's era, and find a lot of RTD's episodes unwatchable now, but there's no denying it's a very consistant performer, no matter who's playing the Doctor or who's in charge. Neither alienated audiences in the way people claim.

Further, aren't the BARB about to include viewings from IPlayer too, so that might give Doctor Who a ratings bump?”

The ratings ay be similar after timeshift, but the overnights for David Tennant were far superior suggesting viewers found Matt's era less 'must-see' when broadcast and more record and catch I when I can.

The posters who argue with SamuelW free speech sadly come across as petulent children. He points out negative ratings for ITV which is his right to do so. Now if they viewers wish to ignore him or anybody else here they ought do so - but they are the ones who derail the thread, we can name names but let's not need to eh??

Decent rating for FA Cup, I was thinking 4.0m over 5hrs....Fine rating for BGT, but the show itself is a national embarrassment, I caught the acts on More Talent...surely a misnomer if ever there was one........Britain's Got Talent But They Avoid This Show.....

Of course we can, but I was being mildly humorous by questioning a sunny day AND on a weekend AND on a September AND in the UK (known for its many sunny days especially at the weekend) AND when DW is airing.

An unlikely set of circumstances.

Unless the producers limit the couples, SCD in its early weeks is well over two hours.

And where is the Lottery programming? And Casualty is 50 mins long, not the 40 mins that you have allowed for..

Or timeshifting was not as prevalent or acceptable to the audience then, especially so with the additional growth of iPlayer and its functionality (on tablets as well as Smart TVs and certain PVRs).

So not necessarily directly comparable

No. I don't want to see Pointless Celebrities in Autumn.

I do think Autumn Saturdays will be like this:

16th August for 7 weeks:

6.00pm Let's Get Ready to Tumble
7.15 Doctor Who
8.00 The National Lottery: Break The Safe
8.50 Casualty
9.40 Mrs. Browns Boys (rpt)

September 7th:

6.00 Let's Get Ready to Tumble
7.15 Doctor Who
8.00 Strictly Come Dancing Launch Special
9.00 The National Lottery: Break The Safe
9.50 Mrs. Browns' Boys

From October 4th for 5 weeks

6.15 Strictly Come Dancing
8.20 Doctor Who
9.05 Casualty
9.55 National Lottery Live
10.10 BBC News

From November 8th for 7 weeks

7.00 Strictly Come Dancing
8.20 Atlantis (New Series)
9.05 Casualty
9.55 National Lottery Live

And then Atlantis continuing into January until 6 Nations start.

It's just stupid scheduling - both the BBC and ITV have often been guilty of just having too much for certain parts of the year then bugger all weeks later, and this year it's Doctor Who causing the biggest problems and leaving them with Pointless Celebrities as the highlight of their Spring schedule. Atlantis will be screwed without the Strictly lead in and frankly if they're not planning to give it one for half the series they just shouldn't have bothered recommissioning it.

But my speculated schedule suggests that they WILL use Atlantis as post SCD and the rest of the series possibly post The Voice.

We we led to believe that by the end of last year BARB would be producing online catch-up reports counting iPlayer, ITV Player and the rest on a consistent basis, but in reports separate from the normal viewing figures.

The stage after that was to integrate those figures into the Gold Standard BARB data, but that seems a long way off, as stage 1 hasn't happened yet.

It should be noted that for the most part iPlayer (etc) via the TV is already included in the official figures.

Guareenteed it'll be a baking hot day when the BBC pitch the first ep of Capaldi run and they'll probably stick it on a stupid early 6pm time when the nation is out enjoying the last of the sun! They're scheduling of "Doctor Who" and "Strictly Come Dancing" has always been questionable. But I guess they always get the numbers in the end.

The irony of BBC One broadcasting a BAFTA ceremony tonight where the majority of the awards so far are going to itv. Oh well.

If it a hot day, Doctor Who will get good iPlayer numbers.

How do you know this? Is it not live...?

A nice Good Morning Britain ratings dig by Graham Norton on BAFTA

Funny gags from Norton: "Bruce has left Strictly, all the viewers have left Good Morning Britain." Susannah Reid laughed it off as people went awwwwwwww. "Well if you cared, you'd WATCH IT."

The Gary Barlow gag when he said "here's a thing about Barlow, he's not so great at returns" seemed to shock a few people in the audience.

Thanks for letting me know. I'm going to watch it live and hopefully not stumble across spoilers.

Ive got a feeling the BBC wont have a good night in terms of winning BAFTA awards. After the BBC's success in recent years, the other channels are due some wins, the voting panel will give C4 and Itv quite a few wins to balance it out.

The BBC1 pres announcer introduced it as ''Live from the Theatre Royal'' but as it began at 7 pm and the programme began at 8 pm presumably being turned round on VT.Perhaps the opening top shot was live

I imagine BBC One will clear up next year anyway. They've had a strong 2014 to date and, as you said, still have quite a few big hitters to come.

Shocking to me that Long Lost Family beat Bake Off to win the BAFTA.
