"Dangerfield" did welll for BBC One in the Friday night drama block for a couple of series. "Making Out" by Debbie Horsefield found itself in that 9.30 slot too for its first series but they promoted it to Tuesday nights.

Itv would probably want to move further from Catherine Cookson. They've just received a BAFTA for "Broadchurch". A critical and viewer success. I kinda think Cookson would take them backwards.

Corrie was at 9.1m with a 38 share

ITV made Cookson at a time where their period drama cupboard was bare. They now have the biggest drama series in the world with DA fulfilling that role, they also have Mr. Selfridge which serves up a satisfactory audience and with forthcoming dramas like The Fire of London there is no need for Cookson to return, I agree it would be a backward step. But I don't want them to give up on the genre once DA reaches the end of its natural life, which it will do one day.

I'll be interested to see what strategy they take, too serious and they fall into Splash territory (Gabby Logan was so wrong for that show) take it too much of a joke and it might fall flat on its face (Literally) Its a real unknown and I'd like it to do well ”

I'm still a little confused by the assumption that Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle are involved in the show (whenever it gets off the ground that is...). The press release (http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/lat...nt-commissions) says

Quote:
“With the full backing of British Gymnastics, the trainers who helped take Louis Smith and Beth Tweddle to Olympic glory are ready to turn the nation’s pop stars, actors, newsreaders and chefs into heroes of the high bars and titans of the tumble track”

So Beth & Louis's trainers are involved - it never actually mentioned the gymnasts themselves. Beth & Louis do work on the BBC gymnastics coverage so it's possible they're going to be involved but with Louis having come back out of retirement then if it airs this year he's probably going to be a bit busy...

That's a massive rating for "Coronation Street" I think viewers seem to love a Whodunnit story.

Solid rating although it was 1m down on last year (although the Monday episode was very high last year). BGT results held up better.

Its unlikely they will abandon period drama when "Downton Abbey" gave them such a boost to the channel. They will want to work with Fellows again and I doubt they'd let him go to BBC One or to an American channel full time.

Not bad for BGT, obviously its lowest first semi final ratings since 2010 according to Samuels list (Just to get that out the way) but 9.58m is still a good figure and hopefully it can hold up a little better than last year when it started strong but had dipped to 8m by Friday.

Think it just shows that despite the over reactions viewers haven't abandoned Corrie.

Glad I went to bed early yesterday and avoided the usual rubbish. As expected for ITV I think - what else is there to say.

That's a huge peak!! And I know we keep saying it but surely it shows that keeping the show as 1 either 8-10 or 7.30-9.30 with Corrie before or following would be best for the averages.

@TVRatingsUK: #GoodMorningBritain fell to its lowest rating yet with 0.29m/10.2%. It was ITV's second lowest rated show of yesterday, after Jackpot 247.

A good start to the week for ITV but the year-on-year comparison for the first time looks shaky for Britain's Got Talent. Not in a 'it's a disaster' sense as it's clearly not but not the best possible start to the week they could have had considering how other Monday live shows have fared.

I think ITV will just have to accept defeat with the breakfast slot unless they elect to do something radical which still may not work. The press don't appear to be kicking GMB in the same way as Daybreak which should help.

Seems the buzz surrounding EE has diminshed. Disappointing figure for what was just an OK episode. Moving it to half past seven without fanfare obviously did the show harm, although it might gain a couple of million via catch up.

A wonderful air of inevitability.

I wonder if they'd ever think swapping out XF and BGT (since the whole Christmas number 1 thing doesn't seem to be massively important these days)
