First time here since Saturday, normally on in the summer but the Commonwealths and European Athletics Champs in July/August will be in the way this year.

Didn't air last year on Monday, on Tuesday it had 5.7m in its usual slot. So while not great it isn't a disaster considering it was also out of slot and not particularly well advertised.

536k for the BBC Three EE repeat. In line with the last couple of episodes. Thought it might be a bit higher with people being caught out by the 19:30 timing.

Good grief. That's terrible for Good Morning Britain.

Another proud moment for ITV Breakfast.

Ambitious of them to think they'd overtake BBC in what, 12-24 months. Either they stick or twist, and by twist I mean get rid of the Breakfast slot as a whole.

Nothing wrong with airing an extended ITN Morning News, or whatever they call it these days, cluttered around repeats/children's programming.

Solid enough figure for "EastEnders" with the BBC Three repeat it reached 6 million people last night.

Yes, Bank Holiday or no Bank Holiday, no amount of spinning can justify those figures.

Maybe it would have helped if they kept EastEnders at 8.00pm.

That is very poor for GMB, whether its half term and bank holiday or not.

Just shockingly bad - even allowing for some Euro Election news drift to the BBC Breakfast programme.

And let's face it, GMB didn't throw in the towel yesterday, they did have some fairly robust (for ITV Breakfast) coverage of the Euro elections

I think if started at 8pm it would even be lower but last I expected it high 4 and lows 5 anyway,

Also BBC 3 Repeat did really well, which was also out of it's normal slot too, 11pm ( normally gets 2-4 k at 10:30pm

Well i tuned into BBC1 at 8 for EE and missed it, then cba to stick around til 11 for BBC Three's repeat

Regarding ITV Breakfast i can envisage this being a reality in a few years

600 Morning News
0630 Emmerdale (r)
0658 News Headlines
0700 Coronation Street (r)
0757 News Headlines
0800 The Chase (r)
0900 Jeremy Kyle
1000 This Morning
1200 Loose Women v3.0

Considering an out-of-slot Coronation Street got 5.58m last Wednesday, 5.1m for an unadvertised, out-of-slot and up against the giant of BGT episode of EastEnders isn't bad at all.

No doubt we'll be seeing "EastEnders crushed by Corrie and Emmerdale" in the BBC-bashing tabloids tomorrow morning, though, conveniently forgetting the context.

That line-up wouldn't be allowed by Ofcom (the bit between 6-9.25) because it would breach the conditions of the separate Channel 3 Breakfast franchise.

Despite the low ratings it's still making decent profits (it was as Daybreak anyway) so Ofcom probably won't let them alter the franchise conditions without putting it out to tender.

I am Happy with that EastEnders figure. The BBC failed to promote the 7:30pm start for some odd reason. Part of me thinks it might have been a little higher at 8:00pm.

BBC 3 repeat at 11:00pm wasn't too bad.

Corrie is about where i expected and i did think Emmerdale may be a little higher given a BGT boost.

I agree - I dont understand the change in time as it was always likely to cause more problems with people not aware of the change.

They moved the time to try and limit the damage but it looks like it didn't work because they didn't tell anyone. Bad rating for EE however you look at it, the apparent resurgence still has a long way to go it seems.

7:30 Start is better if advertised. Moving it out of slot is pointless if you dont promote it. Funny thing is it's a fairly big week with a Wedding of two popular characters A trailer would have worked.

Tonight Its in it's usual slots both on BBC1 and BBC3 so i would expect a little higher.

IN 2012 may 7th! it's had 5.56m (21.7%) Which also 7:30 that year!
in 2011 May 30th It's had 5.2m (19.2%) at 8pm
in 2010 may May 31st it's had 5.07m (19.5%) at 7:30pm one hour!

So in reality there's little difference between the 2011 Monday figure, when it started at 8, and last night though the promotion was poor for yesterday's episode. Of course, 2011 was a massively hyped episode of Britain's Got Talent as it was the year Simon missed the auditions but returned to the lives which aired just after Cheryl Cole had been sacked from The X Factor USA.

Great ratings last night for BGT/CS - utter crap for GMB - they really need to give up.

I really hope the excellent Happy Valley holds up tonight against CS which it should do considering how it ended last week.

So pretty much the same then.

I suppose the 5.58m that Coronation Street got last Wednesday was OK, though, considering it was out of slot?

The double standards on this thread are quite laughable.

At this rate they'll be able to go round and say good morning to every viewer personally.

I do wonder whether it might just be worth running rolling news between 6 and 8.30 rather than making an effort but I presume Good Morning Britain brings in more money than that would.

That rating was criticised and used as an example of the downturn of the soap and the poor producer that should be axed at the time, with many predicting bad ratings this week off the back of it.

It was discussed at some length as I recall, I can't believe you missed it

I'm suspecting a good figure for Happy Valley, Coronation Street to pull in a decent +1 rating and Britain's Got Talent's result show to collapse, relatively speaking. The risk to Happy Valley might be that more children will be watching the television in the time slot than normal so viewers will plump for the PG safety of ITV rather than the grittier BBC One show and catch up on the latter later in the week.
