Well at least if they don't axe The Cube, put it on at 6pm/6:30pm and not in middle of primetime. Its not strong enough to be at 8pm, even with a 7m+ lead in.

I think it should manage 8m again tonight as Tuesday was a very strong episode. Friday is the weakest night of the week for EastEnders so I expect it to fall in the 7.7m -7.9m range on Friday. It should stay around 37% share for the rest of the week which would be a good result as it's been stuck in a rut in the low 30s for ages now.


I think itv are trying to rebrand itv2 as an entertainment channel, predominately filled with comedies, panel shows and films. ITVBe will be the home of lifestyle programming - Jeremy Kyle, Real Housewives, Tom Daley, Peter Andre etc. This new tactic for itv2 isn't really paying off for them so far though.

What's less clear to me is what the distinction will be between ITV3 and ITV Encore. I can see ITV3 being undermined once Encore launches.

Interesting times ahead though.

I saw Loose women today and what has happened Only two of the panel actually work and the things they talked about was Breast feeding a 5 year old and there being 7 different shoppers

To be fair to EastEnders a good friend of mine described a scene to me involving Phil Mitchell and a stuffed dog which sounded quite hilarious. If it could embrace its light side more who knows maybe it could become a half decent alternative to Corrie once again.

A Dog had puppies and one of them stopped breathing so phil helped out and gave it mouth to mouth (something his Dad had shown him to do years ago) The Dog pulled through and then you saw all the Puppies with it's mother. It was a nice light scene that worked well around the drama.

EastEnders has been doing this for sometime now having lighter moments wrapped around.

Stan (Timothy West) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) are both funny and actually so is Linda and babe

Keep the light/funny scenes to a minimum though because that's not what EastEnders is about.

Only in EastEnders would the near death of a puppy be considered a "lighter scene". Suspect viewers were more invested in the fate of that though than Lucy Beale.

How many episodes are left for The Mentalist this season, think with Red John now concluded, its time it ended and six seasons is still a great run for the show.

ITV's digital channels have had a really bad start to the year. I think it's definitely the right time to explore pay TV (not that there's a single programme on the entire ITV network that I would personally pay a bean for) but my concern would be are they going about it the right way if both of the new channel concepts including the new FTA one share similar themes to existing channels and will effectively weaken them?

Is it ITV saying - look, we've taken the free channels as far as we can, we're happy to suffer a loss in share and make up the revenue lost through Encore?

I was torn about whether I wanted a seventh season but the more I've seen of the new style show the more convinced I am the time has come. As you say it's had a good run.

I think TF1 will be more gutted than anyone if it's cancelled. Still a beast in France !

Just 5 episodes remain. I can't see it been renewed. Ever since the Red John arc concluded the show has just been treading water IMO. I think its right to end it this year.



As for BGT. Does no one remember that when it started last year it occupied the 7pm for several weeks before it moved to 7.15pm one week then 7.45pm the week after. So not sure why everyone is saying 7pm is the wrong slot when last year it was considered the ideal slot. It will bounce back on Saturday for sure.

It was a light scene. It saw Phil be human and then people in the vic having a drink to 'Wet the puppies head' with a few classic one-liners
And then seeing all the puppies around their mother was a nice touch.

Its funny because the scene with the puppy got mixed views yet the scenes with the Beales were all positive.


Given the fact that Lucy Beale murder has been talked about across the net this past few days. seriously I don't know what your problem is. You stated that EastEnders has lost it's casual viewers and they won't return but they have.

I get you don't like it but these constant digs are very childish.

Maybe TF1 could take a financial interest in the show then WB could then sell it cheaply In the US to a cable network like TNT. I imagine Channel 5 could cope without it, would actually give them a reason to buy a new US series.

Speaking of 5, wonder when they'll air their upcoming imports like Secrets and Lies, I am thinking July after the World Cup or August after Big Brother.

It was a warm evening over parts of the country at 7.30pm plus EastEnders started a couple of minutes early. Not sure it can get 8m. A shame as it has been very good this week.

Surprisingly Ironside is holding up in the ratings for 5USA. They got away with this cheap purchase.

Fine chatting on a one off live half hour show but not on BBC one's highest rated entertainment show for two hours live on Saturday evenings.

Best decision ever to take him off "Strictly Come Dancing" which would have been wrecked if he had returned for another series. And even worse had he been taken ill live on the programme and BBC one had to suspend it.

I seem to remember that the first episode of Hollyoaks, back in 1995, started with no dialogue for about five minutes or so, because it was considered quite daring at the time.

Last year when BBC Parliament showed an evening of archive programming about railways I was out of the room when it started and, having not heard anything for a few minutes, was about to tweet about how BBC Parliament were the only channel who would dare to broadcast so much silence. Then the sound came on and I realised it was a cock-up.

They haven't taken him off Strictly though, he stepped down. Had he continued and took ill then I'm sure they could have coped, they will have back up plans in place.

I take it we expect ratings to go even higher now he has gone then?

....and it should be remembered that people have been saying the same stuff regards his health for years now, and he just carried on and on till he thought the time was right. Ratings maintained a brilliant level over virtually the entire Strictly history-the vast majority fronted by Sir Bruce.
I would say the question is how ratings will be now he has gone, not if he had carried on. The format is obviously strong, but the public are notoriously fickle these days-pick the wrong person and who knows!
