I am more interested to see how Corrie does. Will it get a EE inspired boost and hold up too? EE should definately get its best Friday ratings for some time but if I had to guess still think it will be more like 7.3m than 8m.

I saw that bit when I was waiting for EastEnders. I've already confessed to watching Takeover Bid because it was on during my "watch almost everything" phase. Still tickles me to remember the blind contestant who ended up winning the most gloriously-inappropriate prizes from the other contestants: camera, binoculars, television, and a day on a ski-slope, if I remember correctly.

I don't play the ratings prediction game as I'm so bad at it. But I think with this bad weather and if EastEnders gets at least at 35% share, which I think is possible based on this week, that it can get very close to 8m tonight.

Also in the past a high rating Corrie at 7.30pm used to boost EastEnders at 8pm which then boosted Corrie at 8.30pm. Think we could see that tonight as instead of not switching to EE at 8pm many might switch to it like they used to.

It has been a slightly weak series of Norton so far, there have been too many all-male line-ups (which we shouldn't be having really) and also I don't particularly like it when the sofa is made up of stars from one film, because that way you lose the interesting combinations of guests that can make this show so entertaining. I still watch, though, because I like Graham and I like the format, even if the guests are a bit boring the other elements of the show - the red chair, Graham himself - are strong enough to make it watchable. I'm not that interested in Alan Carr, I like him but I think it's generally quite a dull show.


Yeah, you'd think it had all the ingredients to be successful, it's clearly got lots of human interest about it and, as you say, it's following exactly the same lines as Long Lost Family which is very successful. I'm guessing that it didn't help that C4 have just done a series about adoption, in the same slot.

It's definitely not because viewers were tricked into watching BBC1.

EE seems to be making a comeback this week. This time last week it was all EE in crisis, but the soap's moved back towards 8 million.
I think soaps tend to have phases where ratings are down and then go up. Even Neighbours, which most people have written off as virtually dead, got nearly 2 million for a big story, a gain of 400,000 on its normal ratings.

It was a shame Takeover Bid never took off. A fun half hour quiz.....bit The highlight for me was seeing if Bruce ever got the bowler hat and umbrella on the hatstand.

New airdate: The 2012 comedy 21 Jump Street premieres on Channel 5 on Sunday 11th May at 9PM.

Interesting though that it takes a big EE story + mega promotion and EE may still lose out in the ratings to what its fans say is a poor Corrie. Goes to show how far EE needs to improve to truly compete with CS.

What is that about and is it worth a watch?

Personally I thought it was one of the worst comedies I've ever seen. However it's highly rated on IMDB (for some reason) so it might go well. But I couldn't recommend it. Noteworthy premiere nonetheless.

Might record it and give it a try then.

I'm surprised its airing so soon but would have thought they would show it closer to the release date of 22 Jump Street but probably not possible due to Big Brother.

I imagine X-Men First Class will get an airing soon on Channel 4 since X-Men Days of Future Past is coming soon.

This is what I was saying a few days ago. Not to take anything away from EastEnders of course as it's been rating extremely well this week but I don't think Corrie can be troubled just yet.

Well Corrie can be troubled if EE goes from 1m+ behind to just about level but thats got to happen first.

Yeah, we'll have to see how much of this boost it can sustain.

If EastEnders was averaging 8m some of these episodes would be nudging 9m. Falling away so much in the ratings means that a boost gets it close to Corrie. With Corrie they still have a substantial base audience so storyline boosts can get it close to 10m

They used to be closer before and it shows how much work EE needs to do to get back to the levels Corrie is at. But if they can raise ratings in time for Autumn then the really big ratings can happen for them again!

Broadcaster Graham Norton has expressed reservations about succeeding Sir Bruce Forsyth as Strictly Come Dancing host, saying he is too "lazy" to do the job.

"I wouldn't jump at the chance," he told The Sun. "I really enjoy the show but it's a very tough gig.

"It's very hard for a new person to take over... and I'm quite lazy."

The Irish comic and chat show host has been tipped to take over the BBC One show following Sir Bruce's announcement he is to step down.

Actor John Barrowman and presenter Nick Knowles have also been mooted as potential replacements.

According to Norton, though, "the sensible way forward" would be to continue the Tess Daly-Claudia Winkleman partnership that has become a Strictly Come Dancing fixture.

The pair co-host the Strictly results show on Sunday and have filled in for Forsyth on some editions of the main Saturday night show.

"I think as a tried-and-tested duo they're great and work really well together," said Norton, whose BBC One chat show is shown on Friday nights.

The 51-year-old, who also has a Saturday show on BBC Radio 2 and hosts the BBC's coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, said it would be "a bit weird" to take on a show that could see him on television on Saturdays and Sundays.


In a separate interview, Daly's presenter husband Vernon Kay also tipped his wife and Winkleman to take on the presenting duties full-time.

"She and Tess have a great relationship," he told the Daily Mirror. "It would be pretty phenomenal to have such a successful show presented by two women as well."

Unlike Norton, however, Kay did not rule himself out of the running, suggesting one would have to be an "idiot" to turn it down the job if it was offered.

"When someone says to you, 'Would you like to co-host the most successful show on British television at the moment,' who is going to say no?" he told the newspaper.

Sir Bruce, who announced his departure earlier this month, has presented the BBC One ratings winner with Daly since the show began in 2004.

The 86-year-old went on to reveal that the rigours of the job and criticism over his ability to continue in the role had been factors in his decision.

Probably will be ready for Early 2015, so January/February.

I'm hoping ITV use this as a 6pm type programme to lead into the bigger LE shows.

In January/February, it would air against FA Cup Football or Six Nations Rugby every week. As it is a very kids oriented show, this most likely will not get a mainstream audience and will struggle in the ratings against BBC1's popular sports coverage.
