I imagine it'll air on CITV first with a primetime repeat on ITV, they'll probably split the 26 episodes into two 13 episode series

A Thunderbirds reboot will be interesting to watch, ITV can't get any worse than the film, I'm hoping its a success so we could see maybe other Gerry Anderson series introduced as part of a shared universe.

It might be kids orientated but then so is Doctor Who in many ways, but that transfers very well as a family drama. If all goes well it become ITV's answer to Doctor Who.

Wouldn't it be more savvy to put it on ITV first then rpt it on CITV!?

Certainly agree there, as a childhood fan of the series the film was unfathomably poor and a huge let down imo. With the right budget and special effects the Thunderbirds brand could have been a worldwide hit and returnable blockbuster. Instead it was like a made for tv effort which I doubt many will remember at all.

Yes I was thinking that myself- but Doctor Who has 45 minute slots and kind of feels like substantial entertainment-if they are 30 minute slots for Thunderbirds then presumably that's only about 24 minutes of actual action on ITV -somehow I cant see that having the same kind of impact.

The film had some good elements like the designs of the vehicles and the casting of Lady Penelope and Parker but the rest was poor

I think CG with real sets was probably the best option as puppets wouldn't really cut it especially since ITV want to sell it worldwide and live action is too expensive.

Whilst I've no doubt it will generate a "nostalgia" trip for a certain generation, I can only think that the entire concept of the thunderbirds is so dated in this day & age of CGI & fantasy world tv that it will fizzle out ratingswise.

Its meant to be an action adventure series for kids so I think having 1 hour episodes would be too long especially on CITV, hence why its 30 minutes per episodes but I'm hoping they can two part episodes to make up for it.

Without disrespecting the legend of Mr Forsyth. Yeah the ratings will go up on "Strictly Come Dancing" hes left at the best time when 'The X Factor" is rejuvinating itself and could very likely to be a ratings giant again with the "C Factor" Cowell and Cole.


Im sure many millions dont watch because of Bruce or indeed stopped watching overnight in order to fast forward him. I cant wait to see the series presented properly and his sideshow removed from a well thought out entertaintment show.

BBC Two used to show Thunderbirds at 6pm in the early 90s. I can't remember what slot it was in when they did reruns in 2000.

I'm looking forward to the reboot but ITV are like a curse so I fully expect it to flop sadly.

Good to see EE back above 7m on a Friday. For the first time in possibly years, EE was the talk of the office this week, and even last night in the pub it was a big talking point. Interestingly, some people said they were hooked again and some said the fact that if was a Feb '15 reveal has put them off. Of course me knowing a few extra viewers isn't instantly the shows fortunes reverses, but it does have the curiosity factor back.

Until we see the other soap figures difficult to put the EE rating in context although certainly higher than usual Fridays (it was 6.4m last week) still the usual Friday drop.

Nice to see EE over 7mil on a Friday it really has been a fantastic week. Also that's a better rating for GN to. And MC, well that just never fails to deliver.

As I said she did not want to reveal this about her private life but was forced to by the media making it news. Her ex partner didn't break the story either. I hope Good Morning Britain goes well for her. She deserves it. She is a strong woman moving forward in her career and some are trying to vilify her for making a career move.

2.6m still watched a rpt of Wednesday's edition of AQOS despite it airing 2 days earlier.

That rating for Masterchef suggests the 2nd Corrie will be below 7million.
