Just catching up on the last couple of days and I noticed people talking about 3 minutes of silence to start EastEnders on Thursday night. If people think that is a lot, the 90 minute long, 2011 Oscar Winning Silent, Black & White film The Artist is being shown on BBC2 at 9pm on Sunday.

How do people anticipate that rating?

To get ITV bumping her rate of course

So her blood is now ITV? Or is it BBC2 for the moment?

Having a solid format will help strengthen the brand and ultimately will prevent the BBC from being complacent. There is room for two quality breakfast shows, but unfortunately, I won't give GMB a check because BBC Breakfast already has the perfect format for me and I will just stick to what I'm used to.

They did irrc. Maybe someone could get them back up as we're in the right thread for it.

Very poor ratings, but no less deserved”

I don't think they're that bad at all?

Her blood will be where she feels happiest. ITV, BBC, C4, Ning Nang Nong, who cares? She's a TV presenter, that's all. Her moving from BBC to ITV is not going to affect the way any single one us lives! So why are we bothered?

Oh did they? I can't really remember. I know it suffered during the Kelly Brook era. But I thought things went ok once Liza Tarbuck came in?

It's Digital Spy. We don't have lives.

Yeah they did that was a relatively stable period I think...I think you've erased the really bad days from your memory When they had four (forgettable) presenters or something and the house totally redone. It was really weird. Near the end they got Richard Bacon back in (by that stage he was a 'safe bet'!).

I've now got TBB theme tune in my head. Doubt I'll ever say that about ITV's show. TBB actually had fans, it was kind of appointment to view, not just wallpaper - something similar would be the golden goose for breakfast really

I always got the impression that she was very well treated at the BBC: she was one of the main Breakfast anchors, for a time she presented a Sunday morning discussion show, they helped to raise her profile significantly via her Strictly stint and all the signs were (e.g. New Year Live) that the BBC recognised that they could build Reid's profile yet further.

The deal with itv may be exciting for her in the sense that she is starting a new venture from scratch but I never got the impression the BBC were disloyal or intended to cast Reid aside. My impression is that itv saw a good opportunity when Reid's profile was in the ascent on Strictly and pounced.”

Susannah worked very well on Breakfast because, although the show is newsy, its relaxed and populist enough to allow her to shine. I watched her on Sunday Morning Live and I was not certain she was ideal in handling a strong debate format or the hard news style of (say) Newsnight. She only did two runs of SML iirc and the BBC have found very little else for her over the years and I wonder whether its because they did not quite know where to pitch her or have a suitable vehicle for her.

So overall Im not completely surprised she has taken the chance of fronting yet another new ITV Breakfast dawn. Its a huge challenge but she has a style that will slot in very well at ITV and it will be interesting to see how that develops.

Seem to remember them changing up the format quite radically. Then, as these things so often go, shifting back to old pretty damn quickly. Daybreak, anyone

OMG I do remember now! I guess I really did block it out from memory. For some reason I thought the show ended with Johnny and Denise back as final hosts. I must have imagined it.

Coronation Street topped Friday evening's soap ratings (April 25) as Nick tried to reunite with Leanne, overnight figures show.

The Weatherfield drama pulled in 7.66m (37.2%) at 7.30pm on ITV and 120k (0.5%) on +1 as Nick's hopes shocked Leanne and Kal. 7.13m (30.5%) returned at 8.30pm and 209k (1.0%) on +1 as Leanne gave Nick false hope that she wanted him back.

EastEnders was ahead of the second Corrie, attracting 7.19m (32.7%) at 8pm on BBC One as Ian broke down in Phil's arms as his grief for Lucy became too much to bear. BBC Three's repeat screening secured 425k (2.7%) at 10.30pm.

Both shows saw improved performances on previous weeks, as EastEnders had its best Friday rating since January 17, while Coronation Street enjoyed its highest Friday figure since February 28 with the 7.30pm airing.

Elsewhere, Emmerdale appealed to 6.27m (32.1%) at 7pm on ITV and 131k (0.6%) on +1 as Belle came up with a shock baby plan. This was the show's best Friday performance since March 7.

Hollyoaks interested 989k (5.5%) at 6.30pm on Channel 4 as Trevor was arrested for Fraser's murder. E4's first look topped the day's multichannel ratings with 800k (4.1%) at 7pm.

Over on Channel 5, Neighbours bagged its highest lunchtime rating since February 24 with 698k (9.3%) watching at 1.45pm. 836k (5.6%) caught the latest developments from Ramsay Street at 5.30pm, while 5*'s repeat had 136k (0.8%) at 6pm.

Home and Away mustered 223k (2.9%) at 1.15pm, 641k (3.8%) at 6pm and 370k (2.1%) for 5*'s first look at 6.30pm.

Richard Bacon was to TBB what Kate Garraway is to ITV Breakfast.

Yes after that disastrous relaunch with Donna Air and co, they reverted to the traditional seats in front of patio doors set and Bacon was drafted back in. EDIT: after only 3 months aparantly, at least ITV don't revert to type that quickly.

People forget The Big Breakfast was only successful for no more than half the number of years it was actually on air.

Yeah, bit disappointing really, say what you like about Purple Daybreak but they took a big risk (and then promptly abandoned the good points) I'll give it shot but it doesn't look majorly radical, in fact it looks a little like the new loose women set- And they're having all four anchors on at once, are they going to debate things?

The other presenters look uncomfortable around Susanna in that pic.

That's because it isn't a picture, it's a grab from a promo that will air on ITV later, and Susanna is speaking.

I read a quote where the former GMTV boss said DayBreak failed because it was daytime TV. Of course it's the content that really matters, but that new set does look incredibly Loose Women and not at all Breakfast news. ITV runs the same type of show from 6-1:30
