As for "Jekyll and Hyde", the BBC did a modern spin on this back in 2007 with James Nesbitt in the title role... I also recall this airing post-watershed on Saturday nights. So... very original, again.

Family drama is all so "top-down" nowadays. TV bosses coming up with "ideas", which always end up being re-imaginings of something or other. It's like Hollywood.

An original story would seemingly have little chance of being given the go-ahead.

So it's the original Game of Thrones then.

I remember that - wasnt that Steven Moffat who adapted it. It was not well received either I dont think.

Going to be a bit pointless comparing the EastEnders officials to last year's if it's true some of the Friday timeshifts are being added to the omnibus instead.

I think it started around 5m but soon dropped to the 3's in the officials.

I liked it and thought Nesbitt was excellent and really scary.

Hasn't the omnibus been late on Fridays since the Olympics though?

How Samuel have you found this out? Do you actually work for ITV, and that is how you get this info, or do you have friend that works forthem and sends you news?

Weekends last year, and Friday nights in 2012.

No as far as I'm aware it never aired on a Friday last year, it was for a bit in 2012 though and the timeshifts were low then too. The timeshift on Fridays has almost halved compared to last year and it happened as soon as the omnibus moved, that can't be a coincidence.

If that was the case, I've heard of hating your employer but...

News that will undoubtedly make Samuel giddy with excitement ...the X-factor musical is closing early.

With a duff movie and now a duff musical behind him, could this trigger a return to safer ground for Harry Hill and perhaps to him agreeing to do a new series of TV Burp?

I saw that and thought exactly the same as you. I have been watching TV Burp repeats and am sure there is still a place for it in short series maybe twice a year.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT EASTENDERS' FRIDAY'S CONSOLIDATED RATINGS....

Up thread, Pizzatheaction is absolutely correct. Friday's timeshift is being added to the omnibus rating. I don't think it is all of it being added, but definitely something is not right.

Friday 4th April for the omnibus...
- 23:55 - 545k
- 00:20 - 490k
- 00:50 - 621k
- 01:20 - 856k

Friday 11th April for the omnibus...
- 23:55 - 375k
- 00:25 - 392k
- 00:50 - 446k
- 01:20 - 639k

Friday 18th April for the omnibus...
- 23:40 - 534k
- 00:05 - 589k
- 00:35 - 635k
- 01:00 - 1.17m

Another thought is that it could be some of the BBC Three timeshift being dumped in with the BBC One number possibly.

If trickytree1979 still lurks around these parts, it'd be interesting to know if my theory is correct. If it is, one wonders why BBC hasn't complained to BARB about it.

There again, they could simply resolve it themselves by moving the omnibus to a wiser slot....

ITV Ratings: @GotTalent dominated the Saturday night ratings, with 10.1m viewers/47% share, and an audience peak of 12m/53% share.

Strong rating there and a particularly terrific peak. That share for the peak is fantastic. Most importantly the average was back over 10m.

Considering it peaked at 10.9m without +1 it looks like there was another ~1m rating on +1. Just shows it needs to move earlier.

So it was up by 0.3m and 1 share point year on year.

Also I love that you've deleted that post now we can see that it was up year on year.

Harry Hill signed to CH4, then nothing seemed to happen for some reason.

They did a spoof retrospective called "Whatever Happened to Harry Hill?" and the answer became "He signed for you trash-peddling buggers"

He is a good fit on ITV, TV Burp as an eight epsiode run would do well I think. It was the crazy twenty-odd epsiodes/year that burned him out.

Given how terrible the acts were last night.
Again very negative feedback in the BGT thread the talent seems really lacking this year.

There's negative feedback in the BGT threads every year. I can't remember the last time there wasn't. I wouldn't read anything into it.

Having said that, I do think it was a weak episode last night. The first two episodes were pretty strong but it was a poor show last night, with few real highlights (although the actresses were hilarious).
