2010 was also the worst charting entry the UK has ever sent the level of interest was poor. I think the first hour was up against BGT which got 10.40 in the officials.

I would guess that the Pointless on the 10th is the Eurovision special they made.

If anyone is interested the average viewing figures across Europe for the last few years published by the EBU.

2013 54.6 million 38.3%
2012 63.9 million 37%
Semi 1 2012 19.4
Semi 2 2012 19.6
2011 70 million
2010 69 million 39%
2009 73 million 43.1%
2008 64 million

I think "brutally graphic" is way over the top but of course we are all different and have different tolerances to this sort of thing. There are a couple of punches thrown but no blood or anything shown - it is more about threat. Much more violence and blood in Prey than in Happy Valley.

“ITV’s new breakfast show, Good Morning Britain, has continued to lose viewers this week.

On Monday, the programme - fronted by presenter Susanna Reid - launched with 800,000 viewers, easily beating Daybreak's average 600,000.

But by Tuesday, 60k had already switched off, seeing the average audience drop to an average 740,000. Going into the second half of the week, things got even worse, with the show shedding nearly 200,000 viewers by Wednesday.

The third show of the week crashed to an average audience of 640,000, a drop of 100k in just one day. Even more worrying for show bosses though, it seems the viewers ITV are losing are switching over to BBC Breakfast.”

Still up on Daybreak, but a case of Emperor's new clothes really - there is a finite number of Breakfast time viewers and getting them to turn away from BBC is going to be virtually impossible.

Can't say I'm surprised. GMB is simply awful. Susanna Reid has just done a Chrstine Bleakley and kissed her career goodbye.

Barry Hearn and class - they are words that are not compatible.

She will have to get out from behind that desk and get her legs on show - its the only chance they have got.

We have yet to see Thursday's Daybreak ratings though.

They could have delayed the Party Political Broadcast a little I thought.

Thanks Bushmills.

Good Morning Britain went up. Ratings will be fluid for awhile yet. How did Breakfast do?

So pleased EE is keeping these shares. Looks like Lucy's death really has worked for them. If they keep this up for the next few months EE should be up on last summer which would probably see EE being up altogether on 2013s average.

Shouldn't judge a shows ratings in the first week, it's obvious that the show is going to lose viewers in the short term but will build to a bigger audience

Like when Chris Moyles left the R1 breakfast show and Grimshaw replaced him ratings went down but then rose and are steady now (though Grimshaw is a pain)

I can see the same thing happening to GMB, itv shouldn't do a panic and totally redesign tithe show again let it have a chance and make minor teaks like camera angles and reporters (ie axe Arnold & King)

Bushmills you publish a few ratings for daytime on ITV & BBC1 please? I'm wondering how ITV's new line up is doing against BBC1.

ITV can be clueless at the best of times but I can't believe even they expect instant results. GMB will take time to bed in and there are some very obvious flaws (Andi Peters, Richard Arnold). More worrying, from what I've seen, is Reid's performance. She looks like she's playing second fiddle to Charlotte Hawkins (who seems more natural) and frequently has a slightly manic, rictus grin plastered across her face. Is that really what they paid a shedload of money for?

My guess is that the real test won't begin until later in the year. ITV has launched GMB in time for it to make a splash publicity-wise, but its ratings will inevitably dwindle over the summer. During that time, they can tweak the format and sharpen up what they have so that they can go in for the kill in the autumn.

That'd be one strategy, at least. Whether or not it's enough to pull in more viewers remains to be seen. I'm not entirely sure who the target audience is … and it's not clear that they know that, either.

I think GMB can get steady ratings but being a close number 2 to Breakfast wouldn't be so bad if it is with good demos. As successful as Chris Moyles was he was still behind Chris Evans on Radio 2.

I don't understand how you can compare the two. Susanna, like Christine, has clearly had a payrise. But apart from that, they're worlds apart. Susanna is a journalist, and if things go REALLY bad at GMB, they'll for sure put her on ITV News - even the lunchtime news has higher ratings than BBC Breakfast has, so she'll still be 'known'.

Not to mention the appearances on shows like Paul O' Grady, which she wasn't doing over at the BBC.

In fairness it was a big week for EE last week especially with all the promo, so it was bout to be down a little. Still good for it none the less.

Better shares than in recent months. Thursday share is down on Tuesday of this week but staying over 35% share regularly for most nights is key to EE getting good ratings.
